Councillor, Robert Krause, reported that the sweeper attachment for the recently pur- chased tractor, has disappeared, en route = possibly remarked Mr. Krause, in view of the weather, travelling on the Orange Blossom Special, or, the Route of the Rhoebe Snow! Reeve McParland reported he had called Dr. Copeman from the Ontario Board of Health, re- questing various plans for the medical health centre. A public address system was ordered for use in the town hall with phone-a-tape jack. A resident complained by letter of a cross dog at large and the owner will be notified. The Ministry of Environment advised that a by-law is required to control and regulate discharge in the municipal sewers. P.S. Newton, sent word of his resignation as agent of the Brewer's Retail 'and the town will remove their building which Mr. Newton has been using, on his property. In a meeting with represenatives from var- ious local organizations, most seemed to fav- our the building of the medical centre, but took back reports for further study of the project, with a second meeting planned. Water accounts of $I25I.56 and general accounts of $625.28 were passed for payment. Clean-up time for the town was set for the week of May 7th. After discussion of the fire hazard created by an old, dilapidated building on the main continued page 2 MCCAUSLAND HOSPITAL ANNUAL MEETING Frank Anderson, of Terrace Bay, presided for the annual meeting of the McCausland Hos- pital Corporation held in the Schreiber Campus High School. Elections to the Board were as follows: for two year terms - Joseph F. Figliomeni, Schreiber; Mrs. Pat Buck, Barry Stephens, Don Stewart, Terrace Bay; for one year ~ William Kirkpatrick, Schreiber. New business included confirmation of By-Law #2, amending the Hospital Medical staff by-laws. : Mr. Anderson, as president of the Board, gave a lengthy report, noting the extraordin- ary number of meetings held during the year, and the membership now increased to I,020, of assistance to the board in dealing with the Ministry of Health. Despite the allowable operating costs,paid by the Ministry of Health, the Board is still hampered by a lack of working capital, not an allowable cost, which must be paid by the hos- pital, and is required to replace worn-out equipment and purchase new. There are two ways a hospital can generate funds through its operation - through depre- ciation on hospital equipment, and, through semi-private and private differential, and it is in the area of depreciation we are not do- ing too well. Thus we are faced with having to raise working capital by other means, and have been greatly assisted by both individual and group donations - for which we are most grateful.
