During the same evening, the Terrace Bay Guides were happy to have Mrs. Mary Shack, District Commissioner for White Sand, two visitors, one of whom is interested in becoming a Guide Leader in Schreiber, Mesdames Elsie Wills and Teresa Stortini, also Brownies who were visiting a Guide Company for one of their tests from the 2nd pack. Mrs. Wills and Mrs. Stortini are hoping again to visit the Terrace Bay company before the end of the season to participate and get aquainted with the routine of Guiding. Mr. Charles Wise kindly offered to run the projector to show a film to the Guides on April 24th. Mrs. Rita Allen an executive mem- ber of the Mentally Retarded Association was invited along to answer questions pertaining to the film and the Mentally Retarded. CARAVAN TO VISIT SCHOOLS The Confederation College Caravan will be visiting the Terrace Bay Public School on May 7th, the Terrace Bay High School on May 8th, and St. Martin's Separate School on May 9th. The facilities in the Caravan include elec- tronic equipment, video tape recorder, coloured slide presentation, a display of college equip- ment, as well as brochures, bulletins, calen- dars, and information concerning the college and its programs. The public is cordially invited to inspect the College Caravan, to avail themselves of the information concerning Confederation College programs, and to speak to a qualified counsel- lor on Post-Secondary education, as well as the Retraining and Extension Divisions. MINISTRY OF EDUCATION SEEKING OPINIONS "What is the best kind of educational ex- perience that we can provide for our young ad- olescents in Ontario now and in the days to come?" This is a question of deep concern to the Ministry of Education, and to find the answer it is seeking opinions across the prov- ince, from professional educators and citizens in general, before any drastic changes are made. It is possible that the present programs are completely satisfactory in what they off- er to the I2-I6 age group who are in Grades 7 to I0. On the other. hand, some or much of what is being done may be of dubious value. Certainly, the young adolescent years are critical in the development of future citizens and this is the reason for the strong focus on the Intermediate Curriculum Review ordered by the Minister. Submissions began even be- fore the official opening date of January, 1973. If you, as a parent, educator, student, or concerned citizen, have strong convictions about the manner in which young people should gain their educational experience, the Minis- try would like to hear from you. Every sub- mission or letter will be acknowledged, and the ideas noted. This project would be a direct benefit to the town, serving all ages, and, in effect, a minor industry, with revenue accruing from rentals, and would in no way conflict with Schreiber's support of the McCausland General Hospital, as it is simply a consolidation of services required within this town.
