PAGE 14 TERRACE BAY NEWS MARCH 21,1973 KINETTE MEMBER HONOURED Mrs. Eva Gordon, a 20 year member of the Schreiber Kinettes, was honoured with a spe- cial presentation by Joyce Reid, the presi- dent, at a gala evening, when 18 Kinettes were initiated. In the darkened room, the initiation cere- mony was impressive as the long line of can- didates lit the candle she was carrying from a centre taper and passed into a half circle formed at the end of the hall. This was fol- lowed by the presentation to each Kinette of a white ribbon by Peter Speziale, and a purple|great success the recent Parish Social had been ribbon by Eva Fordon, after which Bruce Gor- don, the Kinsmen president, spoke briefly on the significance of the ribbons, the aims and purposes of Kinsmenship, the appreciation of the support given by Kinettes, and congratu- lated the new members. Meyer gave the opening and closing prayers at the Schreiber Catholic Women's League meeting on March llth, with Mrs. Rita McGrath presiding. Mrs. Rena Ross read the Scripture passage. The minutes and treasurer's report were adopted as read by Mrs. Penny Caccamo and Mrs. Simonne Connelly. Standing conveners reported as follows: Mrs. Rena Ross, Church Life - celebration of the World Day of Prayer and cards sent various occasions; Mrs. Claire Power, Organizations - asking members to have their annual reports ready to present to her before March 31st; Mrs. Geraldine McColeman, Communications and Public Relations - reminding members of two T.V. programs to watch this month; Mrs. Lauret- te McParland, Social Action - report on the town council meetings; Mrs. Mary Kaczmierczak, March 17th bazaar convenor, reminding members to hand in donation for various booths early for marking; Mrs. McGrath commenting on the and thanked members who had assisted in its preparation. Mrs. Helen Stokes, Mrs. Teresa Power and Mrs. Phyllis McParland were appointed as a nominating committee to secure new officers | for the League. It was announced the Guides' and Brownies' banquet will be held on April 2nd - the C.W.L. catering. Rev. Sister Anna Cosgrove will be the guest speaker at the April meeting showing a film of | their activities and speaking on the Sisters of St. Joseph, to which Order she belongs. Further information on the diocesan conven- tion being held in Dryden in May was read. Mrs. McGrath welcomed Mrs. Jack Stokes as guest speaker and the members greatly enjoyed her description of the life of a member of Parliament's wife - moments of pride, humourous incidents and the lonely times. Mrs. Norah McGuire thanked Mrs. Stokes and presented her with a cup and saucer with the C.W.L. crest. | PENNY AUCTION SUCCESSFUL The Schreiber C.P. and T. Committee are grateful for additional equipment of a walker, canes and crutches presented recently to their home nursing care equipment which is freely loaned in the district. There are many additio- nal aids which may be borrowed by contacting any Rebekah of oOddfellow in Schreiber or Ter- race Bay. Their recent penny auction was suc- cessful with Mrs. Mary Legault winning the door prize and Mrs. Vera Kennedy the filled-to-the- brim grocery hamper. : Mrs. W.A. Madigan of Orillia, has re- turned home after visiting her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. D.Q. Hamilton.
