PAGE I4 TERRACE BAY 4 NEWS FEBRUARY 2I, 1973 C:W.L. MEETING The Catholic Women's League in Schreiber, after a month's recess re- sumed their regular meetings on Feb. IIth with Mrs. Rita McGrath presiding. Mrs. Gloria Mullins, tea convener, reported on plans made for the March I7th tea, when there will also be a bake sale and penny auction. Mrs. Mary Kaczmiercjak will be the general con- vener, and members were asked to bring their penny auction articles early for markings. Mrs. McGrath read a letter concern- ing the necessity of early booking for accommodations at the diocesan conven- tion being held in Dryden May 8-I0, when the theme will be "Christ in Our Work". Mrs. Lucy Chicoine read thank you letters for donations to the Sisters of St. Joseph, North Bay, the Sacred Heart T.V. program, and from the fam- ily in India which the Schreiber CWL supports. Mrs. Rina Ross, Church Life Convener reported on cards sent and a number of Masses said for deceased relatives and friends. Mrs. Irene Borutski, Family Life Convener, reported on the parish coun- cil meetings, saying the annual parish social evening is planned for Feb. 23 in the high school auditorium. She also gave an open invitation to attend a Study Club which will be held Wed. evenings during Lent, when the book used will be "Reflections - the Path to Prayer". Mrs. Lis Prescott, Social Economic and Civic Life convener, reported cards and gifts sent during the Christ- mas season. Mrs. Laurette McParland, Social Action Convener, reported on the Mun- icipal Council's activities. It was noted the World Day of Prayer this year will be held on March 2nd in St. Andrew's United Church. The treasurer's report was accepted as read by Mrs. Denis Connelly. Mrs. Chicoine, education convener, intro- duced Sister Carol McKerral, Resource teacher in reading program and Harold Shack, guidance teacher, in both Holy Angels School in Schreiber and St. Martin's School in Terrace Bay. They resented insights into the work they ig do, its purpose and the goals they hope to accomplish. A lively open dis=- cussion after the talks showed the audience's appreciation and interest in the subjects. RUBY REBEKAH LODGE MEETING Mrs. Glorie Miller N.G. and Mrs. Lil Harris V.G. presided for the reg- ular meeting of Ruby Rebekah Lodge on February I4th. Mrs. Harris reported on cards and flowers sent to members ill and in hospital. The CPT Committee reminded members of the penny sale to be held on March 9th. All Rebekah members are asked to donate groceries for the grocery hamper draw and two prizes for the penny sale. Mrs. F. Fischer reported on recent money raising projects, thanking all who purchased cards and who worked. It was agreed to purchase seven Veteran jewels. Donations were made to the General Relief Fund and the Anti-Drug program. Following the next meeting on Feb. 28th a penny auction will be held with members to bring two prizes. There will be a Pot Luck lunch. Each mem- ber attending to bring their choice of lunch. SEPARATE SCHOOL BOARD MEETING The regular meeting of the Schreiber-Terrace Bay District Roman Catholic Separate School Board was held on Wednesday, February 7th at Holy Angels School. In attendance were G. Ramsay (chair man), Y. Beauparlant, L. Bourke, M. Nicol, Mrs. R. McBride, W. Malcolm, A. McGrath, G. Matys and G. Mullins. Operating expenses in the month of January in the amount of $30,08I.40 were approved. At this point, Mrs. M. Stephen, Sister Shirley and Mr. Harold Shack each gave a summary of the work that they were doing with the different grades.
