Subsection 8 of section 16 of the Schools Adminstration Act is shown below: (8) A teacher is entitled to his salary notwithstanding his absence from duty by reason of a summon to serve as a juror, or a subpoena as a witness in any proceed- ing to which he is not a party or one of the persons charged, provided that the teacher pays to the Board any fee exclusive of travelling allowances and living expenses, that he receives as a juror or as a witness. The Lake Superior Board of Education and its staff will now encourage local organizations to grant schol- arships and bursaries and The Lake Superior Board of Education will discontinue the policy of granting Board funds for scholarships and bursaries. Graduation procedures for both the Elementary and Secondary Schools within the Division, be established as $75.00 for graduation expenses be alloted to each Elementary School in the Lake Superior Board of Education Division. An amount of $200. be alloted for each Secondary School in The Lake Superior Board of Education Division for graduation expenses. The money is to be spent at the discretion of the Principals. A workshop will be convened to discuss the problem of Surplus Teachers, on Wednesday, December 6, 1972 The Board will proceed with the Terrace Bay Public School addition at the lowest tender, provided that the funds are available. The resignations of Mr. Robert Grant - Schreiber Public School and Miss Lorraine Gurba, Marathon Public School, effective December 31, 1972, were accepted with regret. The Board has approved the appointment of the follo- wing Early Childhood Education Assistants effective November 20, 1972, employed a maximum of forty half-day sessions per annum at established rates: Mrs. Carole Brown, Manitouwadge Public School; Mrs. Joy Bott, Marathon Public School; Mrs. Maureen Costall, Terrace Bay Public School and Mrs. Anne Wilde, Schreiber Public School. Mr. Russ Baxter has been transfered from Terrace Bay Campus of the Lake Superior High School to Schreiber Public School, effective January 1, 1973, "Teacherages" is to be dealt with at the December Board Meeting, with briefs from tenants to be invited. It was resolved that the Outdoor Education Program will be continued as in the past i.e. annual consid- eration of school budgets on their Outdoor Education plans for the year. It was to be made clear to all that any equipment supplied for Educational Television in Marathon, by the Lake Superior Board of Education in any Commun- ity must remain the property of and under the control of the Lake Superior Board of Education, and that without express permission of this Board, program broadcast must only be those provided by the Ontario Educational Communications Authority.
