NOVEMBER 29, 1972 TERRACE BAY NEWS PAGE 9 TERRACE BAY POLICE DEPARTMENT REPORT Police investigated a total of 20 occurences during the week ending November 26. Two persons were charged under the Highway Traf- fic Act. Five motor vehicles were spot checked and caution ed for faulty equipment. Three charges were laid under the Liquor Control Act. Three transients were checked. A MESSAGE TO DOG OWNERS This is the time of the year when dogs are beginning to run in packs and, though your dog may give pleas- ure to you, it may be a pest to other residents in our community. Numerous complaints have been received by this department during the past two weeks with respect to dogs running 'oose. Wherever possible the owners have been contacted and requested to keep their dogs chained up. Unfortunately, this has not solved the problem and it would appear that many people just do not give a hoot about their neighbours and efforts to hire a local dog catcher have failed. This has left the town with two alternatives: 1) An appeal through the news media to the citizens ATTENTION VOTERS NEED A RIDE OR BABY SITTER? DON'T STAY HOME FOR EITHER OF THESE REASONS PHONE 825-3376 VOTE FOR ROY BRAY FOR REEVE J THE LAKE SUPERIOR BOARD OF EDUCATION required the following teachers for January 1, 1973: Grade V Teacher = Manitouwadge Public School: Grade One Teacher Applications immediately to: R.A. Cressman, Supervising Principal, Elementary Schools, The Lake Superior Board of Education, P.O. Box 189, Schreiber, Ontario. to control their dogs or 2) Importing a dog catcher from outside the commun- ity and at some considerable expense. . After much consideration, it has been decided to try the first consideration and an appeal is made to all responsible citizens to keep their dogs under control . If this appeal is unsuccessful, then the second alternative will be implemented with the result that unlicenced dogs running loose will be destroyed and the owners of licenced dogs will continued on page 10.....
