Birch. U.T.U. BANQUET The first banquet in Schreiber of the former B. of L. E. and B. of L. F., a joint occasion, was held in the town hall attended by 125. Mr. McGrath, local chairman, was M. C. Accompanied by his wife, others at the head table included Mr, and Mrs. G. Nesbitt, Mr. & Mrs. G. A. Scott, A.A. Boyar, E. J, Allan, A. V. Breen, Mr. & Mrs. J. D. Courtney and Mr. & Mrs. D. Q. Hamilton. Mr. McGrath paid tribute to both the veterans being honored at this occasion, and the older ones attending, in particular John Mill 'and J. D. Bryson, both of whom were receiving 60 year continuous membership pins. Other men receiving presentations were W. Jacob- son, 28 years' service, Andy Parker, 38 years, G, Birch, 50 years service, B. Graham, 30 years service W. Greenshields, 29 years service, G. Krause, 35 years of service, G. Fischer, 31 years service, L. Irwin made the presentation of wallets and G. Scoft, presented membership pins. STORK CLUB Born to Mr. and Mrs. R. Kitto of Terrace Bay a boy on November 5, 1972, FIREMENS' BALL A BIG SUCCESS The Schreiber Fire Brigade held their 30th annual masquerade ball in the high school with over 600 * people attending. The costume judges, Mr. & Mrs. Roy Mills, and Mrs. W. Dukes, had a difficult task, but their decis- sions were unanimously agreed with by the crowd. The first prize of $50. went to the life-like count- erances, on exaggerated heads, of Prime Minister Trudeau, the Hon. Robert Stanfield, and the Hon. David Lewis, in handsome suits, carrying appropriate signs. This trio was revealed as Betty Huard, Doris Gauthier, and Marion Burns. The second prize of $30. went to a group of three octopuses. These were Bill & Annette Campbell and Evelyn Thrower. Third prize of $20. was won by Isobel Perras for her caterpillar costume and Phyllis Gavin for a mermaid. Honourable mention was given to Bill & Glorie Miller as Dracula and his bride and a group of High= way signs made up by Doris, Terry, Sheila and Sharon McParland and Bruce and Maureen Costall . The Terrace Bay orchestra pleased the crowd and this year, with the new laws on ages to attend cabar- ets, there were many two generation groups attending the dance, with the usual number from Thunder Bay, Terrace Bay, and other outside centres. Myra Smilski won the door prize of $50. drawn by :Mrs. Keith Penner. Chas. Wilde was a visitor in Nipigon, Monday . Mrs. Jos. Brassard is a patient in St. Joseph's Gen- eral Hospital . : Peter Testori has returned from McCausland Hospital . There was an excellent turnout of voters at the polls Monday at Rossport Community Hall with 84 electors of poling district 14 casting their votes. Mrs. Anne Todesco was Deputy Returning Officer with Mrs. Camilla Legault acting as Poll Clerk. Messers Manlio Todesco and P. Bruno of Manitou- wadge visited the Chas. Todescos this week. The Rossport Hall Committee held open house at the School Recreation Center for Parents and their child- ren Sunday evening at a Halloween Party. Games, contests were held and a couple of films were shown. Henry Schroeder and son William were Thunder Bay visitors recently, Mr. and Mrs. T.F. Seppala assisted Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Smith, P.C. to entertain Rossportites Saturday evening at the Inn.
