Facing the position of operating at a loss, Kimberly Clark realized that serious action must be taken to offset this trend. In line with procedures set in other divisions as well as many companies other than Kimberly-Clark all part of a belt-tightening policy, Kimberly-Clark regretfully announced that in addition to the lay off of 45 hourly paid workers which took place in April, the Administrative and Supervisory Staff must be cut by approximately 15%. Serious consideration was given to this matter, before the final decision was made . The amalgamation of the Terrace Bay Mill Manage- ment Staff and the Longlac Woodland Division falls in with long range plans for the Terrace Bay Mill to keep operating and hopefully show a profit, so that those who are still employed af the mill will be assured of continuing their jobs. To Mr. Ferrier, who has chosen to take an early retirement and enjoy his new home in Renfrew, we offer sincere congratulations on a job well done over the years he has spent in Terrace Bay. To Mr. Grant Puttock, the newly appointed Man- ager of the Terrace Bay - Longlac division, we say welcome to our town. We hope your stay will be a happy and peaceful one.
