MARCH 23, 1972 TERRACE BAY NEWS PAGE 5 McCAUSLAND HOSPITAL MEETING Alarge number of Terrace Bay, Schreiber and area residents attended the first annual meeting of the Mc- Causland Hospital Board, held in the Terrace Bay High School on March 15th, at 7:30. After a few words of welcome, Mr. J.A. Ferrier, Chairman of the interim board, asked for a chairmen for the evening to be nom- inated. Mr. Bill Hanley was elected to stand as chairman. An agenda was presented and the first item of bus- iness was to have the by-laws confirmed. This was so moved. Mr. V. Mazzone, Hospital Administrator, presented the financial statement, and it was accepted subject to final audit. In his administrator's report, Mr. Mazzone stated that in the five months he had been here, he had found he was enjoying his work and the co-operation he had received from the Board of Governors. Mr. J.A. Ferrier, as chairman of the interim board, stated that he was happy with the progress that has been male in turning the hospital into a public insti- tution. As Manager of the Kimberly-Clark operation in Terrace Bay, who built and maintained the hospital, he was pleased now to take a step down and turn the hospital over to the elected Board of Governors. Elections took place with the following results - for a 2 year term = Frank Anderson, Thor Olsen, Mrs. Rena MacAdam, Don Beno, and for a one year term, Ray Cook, Bill Kirkpatrick, Barry Stephen and Don Stewart. The board will also contain two representativep from Municipal Council in Terrace Bay and Schreiber, Mrs. Pat Buck and Mrs. Dorothy Rummery, as well as the chief of the medical staff, Dr. A.B. Adey, and the president of the proposed Ladies Auxiliary to the hospital . A vote of thanks to Mr. Ferrier was proposed by W. Vezina, a retiring member of the Board of Governors. Mr. Ferrier announced that it was his pleasure on behalf of Kimberly-Clark to turn over the deeds to the hospital, with absolutely no charge to the residents. He called upon Mrs. Beth MacAdam of Schreiber and Mr. George Dashkewytch to accept the deeds, on behalf of their respective communities. BARKER - W., HEINRICH RETIREMENT On Thursday, March 16th, the Township of Ter- race Bay held a retirement dinner at the Terrace Bay Motor Hotel in honour the retirement of Mr. Willi Heinrich and Mr. Cliff Barker. Willi and Cliff have been employed by the Town- ship of Terrace Bay for 18 and 17 years respectively and have reached the retirement age for Municipal employees. The Terrace Bay Recreation Committee presented both men with matching wallets and key cases and the Township of Terrace Bay presented them with Township pins. Attending this banquet as guests of Cliff and Willi were Mrs. Wallis Barker and Mr . Archie Heinrich. Representing the Township of Terrace Bay were Reeve W.E. Cavanaugh and Mr, W. Hanley. Representing the Terrace Bay Recreation Committee were Mrs. Ollie Chapman, Mrs. Ellen Hodgkiss and Mr. Jerry Dupas. Congratulations are extended to Cliff and Willi on reaching their retirement and best wishes to them both for a happy retirement. TERRACE BAY MIDGETS TO COMPETE IN NORTH WESTERN ONTARIO DISTRICT PLAYOFFS This past weekend, the Terrace Bay Midgets defea- ted the Red Rock Midgets by scores of 51 and 6-0 to win the 2-game total goal series 11 goals to 1. The Midgets will now advance to the Northwestern Ontario Midgets Playoffs which will be held in Manitouwadge this year. The championship draw for the weekend is as follows: (continued on page 7)
