After the minutes were adopted as read, a resol- ution was passed authorizing the appointment of a weed inspector for the year 1972. A resolution was passed to accept the name of Wayne Baxter as caretaker for the Recreation Centre effective February 22nd. ; The Thunder Bay Health Unit submitted an analysis of Flouride for all Municipal water supplies within the Thunder Bay Health Unit area. The Children's Aid Society advised of their annual meeting to be held on February 28th. Councillor R. Sinotte will attend. : Pinewood Court, Home for the Aged, submitted t heir budget for 1972. The Schreiber- Terrace Bay District Roman Cath- olic Separate School Board requested Council to collect taxes for 1972, as per usual . The Nipigon - Red Rock Separate School Board requested assistance from the Terrace Bay Hydro Department to defray costs of the Public Speaking Contest, to be held in St. Edward's Separate School . $25.00 was submitted. The minutes of the Lake Superior Board were rec- eived. : The St. Martin's Separate School of Terrace Bay, requested permission to sell Easter Chocolates, the week of March 8th - 15th, and March 27th - 30th. Permission was granted. Proceeds from this sale will aid the Grade 8 to make a trip in June. 1 ( continued on page 2) McCAUSLAND HOSPITAL BOARD HOLDS PUBLIC MEETING IN TERRACE BAY - by M. Lundberg The McCausland Hospital Board of Governors held a public meeting in the Terrace Bay High School last Monday evening, to a large and enthusiastic aud- ience. = - : Mr. J.A. Ferrier, Chairman - of - the Board, stated that he was delighted fo see so many interested citizens out on such a cold night. In his opening re~ marks he introduced the members of the board seated on the platform. They were Thor Olsen, Vic Maz- zone, Frank Anderson, Don Beno, Dr. A.B. Adey, Dr. M. McCausland. Mr. Ferrier gave a brief out- line of the hospital's history, from the time it stari- ed out as a primitive building in the South camp to the present fairly modern structure. Kimberly - Clark built, maintained and staffed the hospital . In the fall of 1968, a suggestion was made that the hospital be turned into a public institution. After a great deal of work, the change came about in March of 1970. The interim board of governors have pre- pared a set of by-laws, which will be presented to the annual meeting on March 15th, for endorsement by the members. A set of by-laws will soon be placed in the library and the Municipal Office, so that they may be studied by individual members at their leis- ure. Mr. Ferrier stated that Al Chisholm, a former resident of Terrace Bay, now living in Rexdale, had been instrumental in getting much of the preparatory work done, before the public status could actually take place.
