Feb. 15, 1967 1,000.00 March 12, 1969 1,000.00 March 18, 1970 500.00 Feb. 16, 1971 500.00 The first meeting of the group was held in Mrs. Barbara Smart's home, 1962, with Mrs. Flora Bryson, one of those attending. Mrs. Bailey joined the fol- lowing year, when the flood booth in the rink, bec- ame one of the fund = raising means for the long- range project. Committee members have changed during the years but among those early, dedicated ones, were Pat Newton, Lionel Bourguignon, Mrs. Bob Winters, and of course, Mrs. Smart, to name a few, and the Borden Rass family, who from the first time pledges were given to assist the fund, have never missed a month with their contribution = their family also, selling thousands of tickets to assist the cause .And when the pouring of the cement base began, almost every able- bodied man and boy in the community - from the CPR Supt., the council of the town, down to Father J.M, Cano (now of Thunder Bay) pushed wheelbarrows, under the floodlights for hours = a necessity for the success of the work, being uniterrupted spreading. There were also many friends from Terrace Bay who came to lend willing hands. The food booth still continues, its equipment cont- inually being improved, and a much enjoyed adjunct for the fans attending hockey games. And, the number and enthusiam of Schreiber fans, whose reputation is well known in the district, require food , to replenish 'the vigour they expend at the games. SCHREIBER MUNICIPAL COUNCIL NEWS Reeve F.V. Harness reported that a representative will come from Toronto to discuss the suggestions made by local ambuance drivers - the date of the meeting yet to be set. Chairs have been ordered for the lodge room, and the handsome re-decorating and renovating is still being carried on, much to everyone's admiration. Aletter was received from a citizen interested in establishing a nursery school in town. A meeting will be held to get other information on the suggestion and discuss if. Fire Chief Peter Doig has been accepted to attend the Fire Protection Technology Course being held in Gravenhurst April 3-May 26. The Atikokan Fire Department sent word they are hosting the Regional Fire Fighting School on June 5 - 9. A request from Tom Quinton, public. vice principal to hold a Walk-a-Thon in April was granted.
