Councillor Sinotte reported being at the meeting held in the Recreation Centre regarding the earwig problem. Mr. Sinotte stated that Mr. M. Reid of the Health Department was obtaining certain infor- mation and would advise the townspeople as soon as possible. A resolution was received from the Association of Mayors and Reeves, stating that the Province be urged to consult with their Municipal partners to improve the cost sharing to the Municipalities on Pollution Abatement. The program Reach for the Top is progressing, and it is expected that the Schreiber-Terrace Bay campus will participate. The McCausland Hospital Board of Governors re- quested Council to appoint a representative to act as a Board Member (Ex Officio) on an annual basis. Reeve Cavanaugh is happy to announce the appoint- ment of Mrs. Clarence Buck to this office. Mrs. Buck is well qualified, since she was Superintendent of the hospital until her early retirement. The Department of Transportation and Communi- cations gave approval of the drainage project. Interim operating reports of Ontario Hydro for the past eight months was examined by Council. Ontario Hydro advised existing interim rates for Hydro shall remain the same for the time being. A review of rates will be conducted sometime during the coming year. The Beardmore Recreation Committee requested continued page 2 GRAHAM COE RECEIVES SCHOLARSHIP The Confederation College of Applied Arts and Technology held its Annual Awards Banquet at the Lakehead Exhibition Coliseum on Saturday, November 6th. President D.A.R, Bradshaw welcomed the gathering followed by an address from Dr. C. Johnston, Chairman of the Board of Governors. Eighty-seven Bursaries and Scholarships totalling $6,350. were presented. Mr. Graham Coe, a second year Hotel Resort Restaurant Administration undergraduate is shown receiving the Kimberly-Clark of Canada Limited Scholarship of $250. Alderman Edgar Laprade, a member of the Board of Governors for the College made the presentation on behalf of Kimberly- Clark.
