GILLIS HONOURED ON RETIREMENT On September 30th at the Terrace Bay Motor Hotel, a Kimberly-Clark sponsored retirement | uncheon was held for Dan Gillis. Dan came to Terrace Bay in 1948 starting fo work for Fraser Brace Engineering. After mill start-up, he worked as a Screen Room Operator and a Digester Cook, being promoted to Pulp Mill Foreman in 1954. At his luncheon, T. Olsen acting on behalf of J.A. Ferrier, presented Dan with his Kimberly- Clark lifetime pension and permanent gold pass. Barry Stephen presented him with a coloured picture of Terrace Bay. Pulp Mill Foremen, E. Glad, R. Beaulieu and L. Crockford were in attendance. J. Lang : - could not be present due to a death in his family. E. Glad on behalf of the foremen presented Dan with a travel case. - cont'd page 2 ...... CANADA SAVINGS BONDS 1971- NOW ON SALE For the twenty-fifth consecutive year Canada Savings Bonds are available by payroll deduction at the Kimberly-Clark, Terrace Bay Mill. The list of volunteer canvassers are posted at the Mill. : Employees are urged to decide how many bonds they wish to purchase and be ready when the canvasser contacts them. Remember these canvass- ers are working voluntarily, many of them have been doing so for twenty-five years. All they ask is that they be received courteously when they approach you about bonds. BUY BONDS NOW 11! RECREATION NEWS GIRLS RINGETTE PROGRAMME: Any girls 12 years of age and over interested in playing Ringette this winter should register af the Recreation Office by October 22nd. All you do to register is_leave your name, age, Recreation Disc number and phone number at the Recreation Office. ADULT HELP WILL BE REQUIRED to operate this year's programme. As each year goes by registra- tions are getting higher and higher and it is im- possible for two people to operate the programme. What about some of the mothers in town? In the past, the time of the Ringette games prevented some mothers to help. This year the Recreation Office is prepared to schedule Ringette games at a time which would be convenient for adults to assist . cont'd page 5
