The full spectrum of services will be available on a toll-free telephone number which will be used to send telegrams, order travel tickets on trains, planes or ships, obtain freight rate information, order freight cars for local industries or obtain advance informa- tion on carload consignments. The decision to open a centre on the Schreiber Division was taken after detailed study of traffic, operations and facilities on the division's 552.8 miles of rail line. : The new system will involve withdrawal of staff from some local stations but protective measures are provided for all affected employees under a special agreement with the unions concerned. These measures have been designed to minimize the impact of the changes on employees. HOLD FINAL SEASON MEETING The L.A. to Guides and Brownies held their last meeting of the season. Mrs. S. Caron chaired the meeting which was opened with the reciting of the Guide Prayer. The secretary, Mrs. G. Moore read the minutes of the previous meeting. Resignations received were as follows: - Blue Guider - Miss S. Brown; Brown Guider = Mrs. M, Moher. Also received was the District Commissioners res= ignation. All resignations are effective June 30th 1971. These were regretfully accepted. The various conveners then read their reports. A report was then given by Mrs. C. Cvitkovich on her trip to the Provincial Annual Meeting which was = held in Thunder Bay. This was very inforative and interesting. The next L.A. meeting will be held in September. The meeting was then adjourned. A delicious lunch = was served by Mrs. R. McBride and Mrs. V. Kostuik. INAUGURAL MEETING HELD IN THUNDER BAY The inaugural meeting of the Ontario Educational Communications Authority's Regional Council for North Western Ontario fook place in Thunder Bay, June 14th. The Regional Gouncil, one of five established throughout the Province, was created to assist the OECA in developing policy and operational patterns on a regional basis. The OECA is a provincial crown corporation which, among its activities, programs the educational station CICA-TV, Channel 19 and dis- tributes television programming over CBC network stations. Officiating at the inaugural meeting were OECA Chairman and Chief Executive Officer T.R. Ide, and continued page 8 .......
