PAGE 16 TERRACE BAY NEWS JUNE 2, 1971 Photo below = Dr. J.H. Widdop AWARDS DINNER Schreiber High School held an Awards Banquet on Wednesday, May 26th, in the Town Hall. Bill Collinson welcomed guests, students and faculty to the event and called on the Rev. R. Dye to say Grace. After a toast to the Queen, a delicious i turkey dinner, prepared by the Anglican Church Women, was enjoyed by all. Maria Veneziano introduced the guest speaker, Dr. J.H. Widdop, chairman of the Physical Education Department at Lakehead University. Paul Caccamo thanked Dr. Widdop for his entertaining and interesting speech. The presentations of bars followed with one stu- dent receiving the bars on behalf of others in the various areas. The following presentations were made with Beverley Hamilton and Bill Collinson co- chairing and Albert Cadieux in charge of the trophy table. Academic Awards, received by Clover Dukes, presented by Mr. Stewart; Athletic Association Awards, received by Bev Hamilton, presented by Mrs. Stewart; Attendance 1969-70, received by Clover Dukes, presented by Mrs. Mulligan; Bad- minton, received by Clover Dukes, presented by Mr. Durham; Girls Basketball, received by Carol Webb, presented by Mr. Hayman; Boys Basketball, received by Roy Huard, presented by Mr. Wilde; Cheerleaders, received by Susan Johnson, presented by Mr. Angelini; Cross Country, received by Bill Smilsky, presented by Mr. Wilde; Curling, receiv- ed by Ted Brown, presented by Mr. Dukes; Golf, received by Ted Brown, presented by Mr. Dukes; Girls Gymnastics, received by Janice Cluett, pre- sented by Mr. Chyril; Boys Gymnastics, received by Shane Walsh, presented by Mr. Wilde; History Club received by Rosemary Speziale, presented by Mr. Pokorny; Boys House League, received by Wayne Tremblay, presented by Mr. Bishop; Girls House League, received by Carolyn Glad, presented by Mrs. Angelini; Owl's Hoot, received by Paul =» Caccamo, presented by Mrs. Mulligan; Boys Track and Field, received by Wayne Tremblay, presented by Mr. Gordon; Girls Track and Field, received by Billie Weaver, presented by Mr. Durham; Boys Volleyball, received by Tony Commisso, presented by Mr. Klassen; Girls Volleyball, received by = Clover Dukes, presented by Mr. Nagy; Yearbook, received by Mr. Gordon, presented by Bev Hamilton. The following students, who accumulated thirteen bars during their high school years, were presented Letters by Mrs. Mulligan: Linda Bennitz, Joyce Cluett, Janice Cluett, Bill Collinson, Albert Courtemanche, Clover Dukes, Katie Kastelik, Dan McGrath, Cathy Stokes and Wayne Tremblay. The following students, who accumulated seventeen bars during their high school years were presented with the highest award = "An Owl", by Mr. Stew-- art: Albert Courtemanche, Clover Dukes, Carolyn Glad, Pat McParland, Dale Sisson, Michael Spadoni, Billie Weaver. Mr. Chyril presented the Track and Field trophies for 1969-70 to the following students: Junior boy with most points = Bill Smilsky, Senior boy with most points = Bob Hiller, Junior girl with most points = Mary Speziale. : Mr. Nagy presented the Track and Field trophies for 1970-71 to the following students: Junior Boy- Bill Smilsky; Senior Boy = Bill Collinson; Junior Girl - Clover Dukes; Senior Girl - Katie Kastelik. The winners of the last four individual trophies are announced at the Awards Presentation evening. The following deserving students received trophies as indicated: Tony Commisso, Boys Basketball, most valuable player 1970-71, presented by Mr. Wilde; Carol Webb, Girls Basketball, most valuable player 1970-71, presented by Mr. Hayman; Albert Cadieux, Outstanding Boy Athlete of the Year 1970- 71, presented by Mr. Wilde; and Clover Dukes, Outstanding Girl Athlete of the Year 1970-71, pre-- sented by Mrs. Stewart. The final trophy received by Wayne Tremblay on behalf of the Ottawa House, is the Winter Carnival Trophy, won by the House accumulating the most points on that day. Mr. Stewart, in his closing remarks, congratulated the recipients of the various awards.
