PAGE 10 TERRACE BAY NEWS JUNE 2,1971 WOMEN OF THE MOOSE ELECT OFFICERS The Women of the Moose Chapter 1426 met recent- ly with Senior Regent Alice Yates presiding. Ballot- ing took place on a new member and was found fav- ourable. : Minutes of the previous meeting were read and billy were passed for payment. A thank you card was read from Rosalie Kettle, also thank you letters from the Salvation Army Red Shield Campaign and Schreiber-Terrace Bay Association for the Mentally Retarded for a recent donation. The annual wind up supper will be held at the Moose Hall on June 16th with the Men of the Moose catering to the supper. Installation will take place with a social to follow. All members are invited to attend the supper, installation and social. An election of officers took place. The 1971/72 executive are: Senior Regent = Anne Stachiw; Junior Regent = Kay Long; Recorder - Sadie Benko; Treasurer - Stella Sadowick; Chaplain = Jacqueline Sopel . : Lorraine Prill's name was drawn for the pot of gold. Lunch was served by Kay Furyk, Anne Didura and Alice Yates. Next meeting will be held on June 2nd when enrollment will take place. TRACK & FIELD AT MANITOUWADGE On Wednesday, May 20th the Terrace Bay Track and Field Team went to Manitouwadge for the Annual Track and Field Meet. Despite rainy weather the meet started with everyone taking part in their individual activities. Team spirit did not fall as the bad weather persisted. The Terrace Bay results were as follows: - Boys 100 meters = Clarence Yates, 2nd; Hurdles = Rick Ham- ilton 2nd; Pat Heenan, 3rd, C. Yates Ist; 200 meter = C. Yates Ist; 400 meter relay - Terrace Bay 3rd; 800 meter - Dave Turcott 4th; Shot Put - Chris Stewart 4th; Jack O'Javee 4th, Lary Kusik, Ist, Brian Mahoney 3rd. Discus - Terry Armstrong 3rd; Javelin = B. Mahon. ey Ist, Dennis Guillet 4th; Pole Vault = Alan Pap- ineau Ist. Girls 100 meter - Louise Brooks 3rd; 800 meter - Rosie Pattison 3rd; 400 meter relay - Terrace Bay 2nd; Shot Put - Francis Cook 2nd, Val Larson 3rd, Gail Simmer 2nd; Standing Broad = Geraldine Belliveau Ist, Jackie Turner 2nd; Long Jump - Brenda Chapman 3rd, Louise Brooks 2nd, Discus - V. Larson Ist, Judy Kurylo 2nd, G. Simmer Ist. High Jump = V. Turner 2nd; 200 meter - Theresa Falzetta 2nd, Candy Cotton 4th, L. Brooks Ist, The Pentathlon or the five events competition was entered by Sam Harris -who placed 2nd. His toful amount of points was 1802. He lost by 38 points. A new record was set by Gail Simmer in the discus The recrod was 88' 9". Her new record is 92' 3". The top individual was Clarence Yates for the senior boys for all teams. Near the end of the meet it was discovered that due to an error in counting ; the relay race would have to be run. Schreiber em= erged victorious, over Terrace Bay by a mere four points. In the overall team standings of the eight schools participating, Terrace Bay placed 4th. The team is to be greatly congratulated for their fine and upstanding effort. All games will be played at St. Martin's School diamond according to the following schedule: - International League = Mondays and Wednesdays - 6:00 to 7:15 p.m. National League - Tuesday evenings = 7:15 to 8:30 Pe _ m.
