TRACK AND FIELD COMPETITION Teams from eight schools participated in the Track and Field Meet in Manitouwadge on Wednesday, May 19th. Geraldton High School placed first with 220 points, Nip Rock second with 189 points and Schreiber third with 106 points. Members of the Schreiber High School team pla- cing in various events are as follows: - Albert Cadieux = 3rd in senior 400 meters; Ron Chicoine - Set a new junior high jump record of 5' 4" in winning that event, and placed 2nd in the 800 meters and 3rd in the javelin; Bill Collinson - Ist in senior boys' pole vault; Lonnie Connelly - Ist in junior 300 meters and 2nd in the 1500 meters; Dan McGrath = 2nd in junior boy's pole vault; Bill Smilsky = 1st in the 400 meters, 2nd in the 100 meters and 200 meters and 2nd in the junior boys' long jump; Mike Spadoni = 2nd in senior boys' long jump; Mark Stokes = Ist in midget 800 meters; Jane Chopty - 2nd in senior 800 meters; Clover Dukes = 1st in junior running broadjump, 4th in junior 500 meter dash; Linda Huard - 4th in the mid- get 400 meter dash; Katie Kastelik = Ist in senior high jump} Ist in senior running broadjump, 3rd in senior 500 meter dash, 3rd in senior standing broad- jump; Debbie McCanna - 4th in midget 800 meter dash; Betty Pinion = 4th in junior standing broad- jump; Cathy Stokes - 4th in the 50 meter dash; Billie Weaver = Ist in senior shot put and set a new record; Carol Webb = 4th in junior 50 meter dash; Janet Zwir = Ist in junior 800 meter dash. The boys' junior relay team, consisting of Ron Chicoine, Bill Hiller, Bill.Smilsky and Mike Spa- doni, won their event. The girls" senior relay team consisting of Judy Chopty, Katie Kastelik, Cathy Stokes and Jackie Zborowski, placed third in their event. The girls' junior relay team, consisting of Clover Dukes, Susan Johnson, Carol Webb and Janet Zwir, placed 2nd in their event. Other members of the Schreiber Team were - Janice Cluett, Jane Duggan, Carolyn Glad, Karen Guina, Kathleen Guina, Betty Ann Huard, Lucy Racioppi, Lorne Bourke, Victor Dukes, Joe Figliomeni Mario Figliomeni, Roy Huard, Michael Miller, Ray Pitkanen, Robin Smith, Joe Speziale, Wayne Trem- blay, Alan Turner and Shane Walsh. 3 All the students who participated, in spite of the inclement weather, are to be congratulated on their fine effort and sportsmanship.
