PAGE 14 TERRACE BAY NEWS ABRIL 28, 1971 RECREATION BRIEFS - By Jerry Dupas LADIES KEEP FIT CLASSES All registrants for the Ladies 'Keep Fit' classes are reminded that the first session is scheduled for this Thursday, April 29th, at 8:00 p.m, sharp at the High School Auditorium, ALL REGISTRANTS SHOULD NOTE THAT THEY MUST REGISTER AT THE RECREATION OFFICE PRIOR TO THURSDAY, APRIL 29TH - registrations will not be taken at the first session. Remember - the first session starts at 8:00 p.m. sharp. Be there on time. GAMES ROOM At the time of this write-up, possibilities looked very good to open the Games Room on Wednesday afternoon, April 28th, at 3:00 p.m. Schedule for the operation of the Games Room is as follows: - Monday to Friday - 3:00p.m. to 5:00 p.m. 6:30 p.m, to 11:00 p.m, Saturday oe 110:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. 6:30 p.m, to 11:00 p.m. Sunday -- 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. 6:30 p.m, to 92:00 p.m. A reminder that the activities in the Games Room are available to the general public. MEN'S BASKETBALL The Recreation Office will be receiving names of men interested in playing Basketball, once weekly, up until this Friday, April 30th ot 5:00 p.m. Sessions would be held once weekly at the High School Auditorium from 9:30 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. on Thursday evenings. If you are interested in taking part in this programme through the month of May and part of June, be sure to leave your name at the Recreation Office by THIS FRIDAY SUMMER STAFF A reminder to those interested in applying for summer jobs with the Recreation Department that the deadline for applications is WEDNESDAY, MAY 5TH, at 5 P.M. Applications will not be accepted after this date. Application forms are available at the Recreation Office, and if you require further information, simply call the Recreation Office at 3542, ADULT BADMINTON SESSIONS A reminder to the Adult Badminton Club that sessions for this week are as follows: Wednesday, April 28th ~ 9:00 - 11:00 p.m.; Friday, April 80th-1 7:00 = 9:00 p.m. This extra Friday session has been made available primarily for players to practise for the upcoming North Shore Badminton Tournament. Extra sessions may be scheduled during next week depending on the date of the North Shore Badminton Tournament .. COMING EVENTS Thursday, April 29th ~ Ladies' Keep Fit Class commences ~ 8:00 p.m. - High School Auditorium Saturday, May Ist = Junior Badminton session, 10:00 a.m. to 12 noon at High School Auditorium Sunday, May 2nd = Penny Auction and casual cards = Canadian Legion Auxiliary - 8:00 p.m. Legion Hall Wednesday, May 5th - Grade 8 Mothers Day Bridge, Tea and Bake Sale = Community Church = 8:00 p.m, Friday, May 7th - Brownie and Guide Cookie Day GOLDEN BAR CEREMONY Mrs. Lang, Mrs. Caccamo, Mrs. Dakin and Mrs. Pytyck were the guests of the 1st Terrace Bay Brownie Pack on April 6th when their daughters received their Golden Bar badges. The pack and Snowy Owl Cathy Melynk sang a song of questions pertaining to tests completed for their golden. bar badge and were answered by Tawny Owl Marilyn Saranpaa. Brown Owl Mrs. Moher presented each girl with a golden bar and a test tree for their scrap book. The ceremony ended with the mothers joining in games. The pictures taken by Mrs. Lundberg show the brownies holding a train of pennies which they had earned for the World Friendship fund.
