ROMAN DAY AT T.B.H.S. . On Friday, April 23rd, Room 101 in Terrace Bay High School was the scene of a Roman Banquet. The third year students of history brought their studies of Rome to life. Preparation for Roman Day included the painting of six wall panels in the style of the time, planning and preparing the food for the banquet and the making of a Roman toga for each student. While the leisurely Romans relaxed on floor mats they feasted on crusty bread rolls, cheese, olives nuts and grape wine. The conversation was of interesting topics of Roman time - gladiators, slaves, emperors, coliseums and chariot races. Towards the end of the feast, a Roman election was held for Emperor and Emperess. A show of hands typical of the time determined the Emperor Mike Corrigan and the Emperess Gail Simmer. The students not only enjoyed this event but it is certain that much was learned of the life and customs of Ancient Rome. A : BN +) - continued page 11.....
