The Department carried out an extensive test program on the Strip and, as a result, concluded that recent reports in the press that the Strip may be harmful, were groundless. The Government announcement, says, " ... the use of the Vapona Strip in accordance with label directions does not cause a hazard to human health." M.Q., F.M., Marquette, will be added to the cable. The Radio Television Commission has outhorized us to carry this station at 96.3 M.C. W.D.M.Q., F.M. transmits in stereo so those who's F.M, stereos are connected to the cable will receive two sound tracks the same as a stereo record. On November 19th, 1970, we applied to carry W.J.M.N, Channel 3, Escanaba, Michigan. Since then considerable correspondence has taken place and at present the Department of Communica- tions are conducting a theoretical technical evalua- tion to determine the feasibility of carrying W.J. Bryson called the meeting of the Schreiber Recreation Committee with F. Bryson, R. Spadoni, B. Harper, G. Blanchette and L. Bourke present. : R. Spadoni moved the minutes be adopted as printed. The tenative schedule for the Spring Zone Confer- ence, drawn up by E. Prinselaar and G. Blanchette was read and discussed by all. Some minor changes and suggestions were made which Mr. Blanchette will work out with Mr. Prinselaar in the final plan- ning stages. The date of April 16-17 and general out- line were agreeable to all. It was unanimous that the program be accepted and the necessary details be work ed out by the two chairmen. R. Spadoni reported that the Show 'Wild Splendor" may still be shown in Schreiber, as the group may contact us on their return trip. Since the Budget meeting had been cancelled the Budget was brought up for discussion. Possible programs, hiring of personnel and playground expenses were presented and discussed. L. Bourke, G. Blanchette and F. Bryson along with Chairman W. Malcolm will present a budget at the | next meeting if possible. A letter received from Terrace Bay Recreation Association was read concerning a Ringette Clinic to be held in that Community. It was suggested that Joyce Cluett might be interested in this Clinic or know of someone who is. A letter received from the 'Smilin Johnnie Shows' of Saskatoon, was read stating that they would be willing to perform in Schreiber on April 25th if agreeable to us. F. Bryson moved we hire this show for April 25th on an 80-20% basis with no guarantee. A letter received from the Boy Scout Association in Schreiber was read in which they requested our Comm- ittee fo assist them in perhaps acquiring the High School gym for their weekly meetings. The possibility of this was discussed and will be further looked into when more informdt ion is available. R. Spadoni moved the $10.00 registration fee for 1971 be paid to the Ontario Municipal Recreation Association. L. Bourke moved the meeting be adjourned. Balloon logging was pioneered in Canada.
