O'Flaherty, who said ! LEGION SNOWMOBILE RACES HUGE SUCCESS The Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 223, Terrace Bay, sponsored their third annual Snowmobile Races on February éth, starting with a Cross Country at 11 a.m. Track events took place starting at 2 p.m. Trophies for each event were donated by Labatt's Breweries, as well as cash prizes donated by the Legion. Coming in first in the Cross Country in a good time of fifty-two minutes was E. Daykin of Thunder Bay. Second was M. Hakanen of Thunder Bay and third D. Godin of Schreiber. 18 h.p. and under = Ist A. O'Keefe, Schreiber; Circuit - Ladies = 1st = Ava Nuttall, Nipigon; 2nd Lorraine Desaulniers, Terrace Bay and 3rd - Lorraine Huard, Schreiber; 15 h.p. and under - Ist = K. Schmiedchen, Terrace Bay; 25 h.p. and = ° under - Ist - E. Daykin, Thunder Bay; 2nd = H. ° Dufour, Nipigon; 3rd = R. Simpson, Marathon; No restrictions = Ist = M. Hakanen, Thunder Bay; 2nd - R. Wilson, Thunder Bay and 3rd = A. Jalkanen, Nipigon. Members of the Auxiliary served hot lunches in the Legion Hall, as well as at the Masonic Hall, which was used free of charge by the ladies, thanks to members of the Masonic Lodge. Prizes and trophies were given out at the Masonic Hall with Mickey McFadden representing Labatt's handing out the trophies, with Pat Jones assisting. _ A dance was held at night with music by George Churney and his orchestra.
