FEBRUARY 25, 1971 C.W. L. Meeting - cont'd from page 14 at the February meeting of the Catholic Women's League in Schreiber. Appreciative letters for donations were received from the Sisters of the Gualan mission, who are us- ing the money to educate a student to become a teacher, and from the family in India the CWL is supporting . A letter was received from Mrs. J.J. Mathews, Provincial Social Action cenvener of the CWL urging members to become involved in the matter and write their member of parliament regarding the laws on abortion. The Catholic Girls' Club were guests at the meeting. It was reported their hour blitz for tickets on a draw was most successful and the draw set for February 25th with tickets still available. They are now planning a shamrock tea for sometime in March. Mrs. Mary Shack, Guide Commissioner, urged mothers to support the movement saying leaders are required. Mrs. Irene Moorey, who presided for the meeting, reminded members of the World Day of Prayer on March 5th in St. John's Anglican Church and asked for volunteers for the choir, a practice to be held on March 2nd. Plans were completed for the tea, bake sale and penny auction being held on March 17th. Mrs. Irene Borutski gave highlights of the munici- pal council meeting. She also asked members to donate the one per cent asked for the Peace and Development Fund. Mrs. Claire Power, who read the Scripture passage also reported sending twenty-nine cards for various occasions and that a high Mass and a low Mass had been celebrated for deceased relatives. Minutes and correspondence were read by Mrs. Rita McGrath and the treasurer's report accepted as read by Mrs. Rena Ross. Rev. J.M. Cano, leaving Schreiber, thanked the members not only for their co-operation in church matters but for the friendship extended to him, wish- ing them continued success in their work. Mrs. Moorey described the new dishes, bearing the CWL crest, recently placed in the parish centre kitchen. Mrs. Stokes introduced Patricia McGrath who gave her prize-winning speech in the Ontario Hydro competition, "Teenagers, Drugs and Parents". Following this there was a discussion period TERRACE BAY NEWS _ PAGE 15 Tom Lenardon, of the Northwestern Division Council of the Arts paid a visit to Schreiber to meet with members of the Arts and Crafts group, the Recreation committee and other interested people. He is presently conducting a survey of the area in an effort to determine where the interests in these activities lie, what is presently being carried on and what is hoped for in the future, with the intent to offer advice or guidance if possible. The above-mentioned groups in Schreiber are active, with the Arts and Crafts having an active . and enthusiastic membership which varies in size at times depending on 'the course being taken.
