Mrs. Helmink is the President of the Association for the Mentally Retarded, in this area and is herself a mother of a mentally retard- "ed child. Mrs. Helmink showed a film entitled "Our Responsibility", and a question and answer period followed. Mrs. Helmink explained the ~ terms unfamiliar fo some, and talked of the school in Marathon where mentally retarded are being taught. Mrs. B. Wise presented a cheque for fifty doll- ars to the Association on behalf of the Auxiliary. Proceeds from a C.G.l.T. walkathon last summer, in the amount of $300.00 was given to Mrs. Helmink for the Association, presented by Mrs. G. Soughton. The evening closed with tea and coffee being "served by Mrs. Lil Harris and Mrs. Judy Mercer. LEGION BOWLING STANDINGS The following are the Canadian Legion Mixed Bowling Standings to Feb. 5/71 Irish Regiment - 69 Corvettes - 59 Bombardiers - 51 Cameron Highlanders - 46 Spitfires - 45 Len Swirhum continues to bowl well, rolling a 308 and 205 with a triple of 670. TEA AND BAKE SALE ly meeting January 25th and was well attended by L.A. members and leaders. This was opened with the Guide Prayer. Chairman, Connie Cvitkovich welcom~- ed new members Helen Almos and Bernice Pytyck. Minutes of the previous meeting were read by Secretary, Gail Moore. The L.A. Tea and Bake Sale is to be held on Feb- ruary 13th 1971 in the Community Church from 2 to 4 p.m. Everyone is invited to attend. It was announced that Cookie Day this year would be held early in May. Mrs. J. Desrosiers is convener for this once again. Final plans for the Brownie and Guide Banquet were This is to be held February 20th at the Moose Hall beginning at 5:30 p.m. sharp. Deadline for tickets is February 9th for Guides and February 11th for Brownies. There will be entertainment for the mothers and also a guest speaker. On February 21st there will be a Church Parade at the Community Church at 7 p.m. All parents are invited to attend. The meeting was adjourned with the next meeting being February 22rd.
