JANUARY 21, 1971 TERRACE BAY NEWS PAGE 9 VENTURER CURLING BONSPIEL - By Bevin Schritt Special thanks goes to the mothers of the Venturers - who prepared a delicious lunch and supper, and to A very successful 2nd Annual Lake Superior Area the Terrace Bay Curling Club for use of their falilities. Curling Bonspiel was held on Saturday, January 2nd. | | There were six mixed teams drawn up from the | members of the Marathon and Terrace Bay Venturer ' Companies. A round-robin tournament was played with all teams playing each other af least once. The winner was not decided until the very last rock of the last iY game was thrown. The skip, Rudy Barton, Sr. of : Marathon, had a silm one point lead over David Randa's rink. Randa was counting two forcing Barton to hit and stay. Barton missed his shot and watched dejectedly as his rock slipped through the house. This left him in a tie for second place with Bevin Schritt's rink. They played a four-end play-off which proved to be another hair-raiser. Barton was counting five at one time, but a shot by Schritt changed it so that he was counting one. Schritt won second place by counting three in the \ final end to break the tie.
