Ashley, Provincial Cadet Officer presented | Mrs. Helen Jartus, Corps Staff Officer, (S) St. John with a silver bar service. Mrs. Jartus had been in- : vited to receive this award in Toronto on June 13th at the annual Investiture by His Honor, the Lieuten- ant Governor of the Province of Ontario, but had to decline due to illness in the family and a request was made to have the award presented in Thunder Bay . SHOWER HONORS MRS. ALLAN GILMOUR Mrs. Allan Gilmour (nee Lois LeBlanc) was honored at a shower-tea in the United Church Hall, Sunday, June 20th arranged by her friends. Assisting her in receiving were her mother Mrs. A. LeBlanc and Miss Rona Godin. Mrs. S. Law was dining room hostess . Guests were served by Anne Marie McGrath, Jane and Anne Bailey, Debbie Armstrong, Joyce Cluet and Beverly Hamilton. Gifts were opened by Mary Pat Santerre and Shelley ' Souliere circulated the guest book. Mesdames R.Bailey, |. Martin, L.Godin assisted in the kitchen. ' SCHREIBER OLD TIMER DIES AT 88 The Funeral of James Edward Harris, 88, who died June 16th in Terrace Bay Private Hospital, was held | in Schreiber Friday, June 19th at 1] a.m. in Holy _ Angels Roman Catholic Church with Rev. Father J. ' Cano officiating. Honorary Pallbearers were Austin Cosgrove, Ed Nicol, Pat Bourguignon, Tom Bolan, George Duncan i and Nelson Smith. the Pallbearers were all grand- sons of Mr. Harris, Jim Boon, Norman Boon, Lenny Harris, Georgie Harris, Russell Weaver, and Jime Harris. Interment was in Schreiber Cemetary . A resident of Schreiber for the past fifty year, he had also resided in Chapleau for approximately fif- teen years. A retired C.P.R. employee, he was predeceased by his wife Carolyn in 1928.
