This applies to relationships between people in general, and is especially very important in family-life. How do we communicate with our husband or wife, what makes it so difficult to have a real meaningful rela- tionship with our children? In every area of human life we see and experience some of the frustrations that men meet in their attem- pts to communicate. Even if we make an effort to talk to each other, do we really hear what the other person is saying? Or ao the results of our conver- sation not meet our deepest needs and do we turn away in frustration and resentment? Who has never had the hopeless feeling that it seems impossible to express one's feelings, that one is completely misunderstood? Some time ago some interested people in Terrace Bay and Schreiber got together and arranged for a "Weekend Workshop" to be held in Terrace Bay on October 17,18, and 19. This workshop will have as its theme "Communication" and will be con- ducated by Dr. G.L. Toombs and Mrs. Toombs, continued next column ..... _ books and especially from T.V. advertising. Dwayne Thomas, Manager both well-known authorities on the subject of "Fam- | ily Life Education". Dr. Toombs is the director of the Pastoral Institute in Winnipeg, which deals with "Individual , Marriage and Family Counselling Services. The topics to be under discussion will be: "Com- municating Feelings", "Seeing each other as Per- sons", "Having Marital Conflict" and "What and How shall | tell my Child". This last session will deal with Sex Education. Whether we like it or not, our children are getting sex education. They get it from movies, magazines, Everything these days, from cars to cigarettes to soap, is sold by sex appeal. Is it not worth our time to spend this session exploring this area under f competent leadership, to prepare ourselves so that : we as parents become capable of equipping our young sters with the proper values of life? ' Dr. and Mrs. Toombs are especially keen to addressy both husbands and wives so that a maximum benefit q can be obtained from this workshop. 1, All interested persons are invited to attend. A complete agenda of this workshop will be printed in next week's -"Terrace Bay News."
