McLeod's supervision, we were taken on a tour through Zenmac Mines. Mr. E.A. James presented us with a brief account of the Mine, then brought half of our class down below to the second level. He pointed out various places of interest, and showed us how zinc was mined and taken to the sur- face. We also learnt a bit about mucking, drifts escape-ways, and the costs of such operations, and were given samples of zinc as souvenirs. Mr. James was-an excellent guide, and our appreciation is extended to him. On the surtace again, Mr. O. Mennecke lead us ' through other buildings while the rest of 5A11 went | down below. We were shown how the cages which carry cargo and passengers were hoisted up and down' the mine, and had glimpses of the diesel generator ONTARIO HEALTH SERVICES INSURANCE PLAN and compressors . When our tour of the mine concluded, we express- ed our thanks and drove over to the Zenmac mill. Mr. P. Broadhurst guided us around, and revealed how the zinc is ground up and refined. It was all very knowledgeable and interesting. We would also like to thank Mr. Prinselaar (our bus driver), Zenmac Mines, Mr. MacLeod, and Mr . Rowsome for making this memorable tri p possible.
