Con Duggan, and Mrs. Bill Cocks. The tea was poured by Mrs. Winters, grandmother of her fiance , Mrs. Milton Winters, Mrs. Gus Krause, Mrs. Jack Winters, all aunts. Mrs. Ron Burton was dining room hostess. Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Riley of Port Arthur are visiting Mr. and Mrs. Robert Winters and Mr..and Mrs. Wally Greenshields. PRINCIPAL H.M. ERMEL HONOURED The former public school board and the new District board held a reception in honour of H.M. Ermel who is retiring as principal of Schreiber Public School. The event was held in the high school auditorium with E.J. Morgan, Director of Education, Lake Superior Divisional Board of Education, and W.G. Furlonger, chairman of the former school board, re- ceiving with Mr. Ermel. Mr. Furlonger was master of ceremonies and spoke of his pleasure in being part of this occasion to pay tribute to Mr. Ermel as he goes into retirement after more than 50 years in the teaching profession and since 1935 principal of Schreiber Public School. He was, he said, not only a dedicated principal but took an active part in the affairs of the community and he added "we are not likely to see his kind again." Mr. Ermel comes form Walkerton and attended Stratford Normal School. He taught in-many countr schools in the East and at Neustadt and Port Arthur before coming to Schreiber. Mr. Morgan congratulated Mr. Ermel on his long and successful career, saying he has known him for 37 years and is aware of the high esteem in which he is held not only in the community but throughout the entire district. He extended the congratulations from the Honorable William Davis, minister of education. Mr. Ermel was presented with a watch from the district board, the presentation made by Mrs. Eva Gordon, vice-chairman of the former board. Tom Quinton, vice-principal, on behalf of the teaching staff presented luggage, and Mrs. J.D. Bryson presented a gift of a wallet and money from friends in the community.
