APRIL 10,1969 SCHREIBER FILM ON CHINA SEEN BY U.C.W. A donation was made to the John Milton Society for the Blind at the regular April meeting of the Un- ited Church Women with Mrs. Wesley Clemens presid ing.-Mrs. Oscar Niemi reported for the sewing com- mittee and put money in the treasury. Mrs. Russell Macadam presented proceeds of the recent coffee and bake sale saying it had been a pro- fitable project. Literature was received from the Prairie Christian Training Centre outlining their plan for this year. Mrs. Frank Fummerton reported on the luncheon recently served to Recreation committees' conference. Mrs. W. Gerow was given money to use for purchase of baby gifts for new babies. Following the meeting a film on China was shown and sing song enjoyed. LEGION ANNIVERSARY MARKED A birthday party and social evening marking the anniversary the ladies auxiliary to Branch 109, Royal Canadian Legion, was set for May 10 at their regular April meeting . There were 14 members and one visitor, Mrs. Sally Wood, attending - Mrs. Wood awaiting her transfer from the Kakabeka auxiliary to Schreiber . An invitation was received from White River Aux- iliary to attend their birthday celebration on April 26 and those intending to go are asked to contact Mrs. Georgina Davis. Mrs. Jack Winters presided and gave a report on the district meeting which she and Mrs. Davis attended in Kakabeka recently. Members voted in favor of working at the minor hockey banque date of the event not yet set. The auxiliary scholarship, presented annually to the Schreiber high school was increased from $50.00 to $100.00. Social nights for April will be on the 15th and 29th. A donation was made to the Pinewood Court organ fund. Mrs. Bruce Lidkea, sick and visiting convener, reported.making visits and sending many cards. Mrs. Bill Dunham, Saturday kitchen convener, reported on finances and workers. Mrs. Edgar LeBlanc, Mrs. Ivan Johnson, and Mrs. Jim Kostecki were named hostesses for the May meeting. Sitting there. bemoaning her misfortune she was astounded to see the fish leap up out of the hole again, and. this time she made sure of it! KINSMEN ZONE MEETING Frank Brown, of Port Arthur, was elected deputy governor of zone 4, at a district meeting held in Schreiber by zone 4, district 2, Kinsmen, with mem= bers attending, from Geraldton, Port Arthur and Fort | William. : Schreiber will host the Fall council meeting when 45 clubs of district 2 will be represented. Discussions | included sponsoring high school students to attend leadership courses in the Quetico Youth Movement program, and establishing a home for the retarded at the Lakehead.
