PAGE 10 = Grorrs!-conneng LADIES CURLING CLUB NEWS The second round in the ladies regular curling schedule was completed last Thursday for the Laskin's Trophy. Winners of this trophy are Ann Latour, Vera Kennedy, Betty Turner and Sandra Allen. Runners-up were Kay Thorsteinson, Elizabeth Burns, Marjorie Liebrock and Julie Rattray. A Third's Bonspiel has been scheduled for Tuesday and Thursday this week for the Molson's Trophy. ART CLUB NEWS A meeting of the Art Club was held Thursday, Feb= ruary 6th. A new slate of officers was installed as such: President - Mary Middaugh, Vice - Lois Kuran; Secretary - Anne Erickson; Treasurer - Doro- thy Rafalant; Publicity - Anna McKie; Membership - Lois Kuran; Exhibits - D. Bailey; Programming - Audrey Ferguson and G. Boyd. A draw is to be held March 31 on a painting with tickets to go on sale shortly. sete esbrissthleaiaionstt nes lc sincllbenasionp scape sik Mega SKI CLUB NEWS Twenty Treasure Hunters criss- crossed the ski hill last Saturday afternoon in search of valentine treasures, fadio stations, ski safety messages and other assorted treasure. After one hour of frantic searching and comments on elusive treasure the results ere as follows- Ist place - Pat Megraw and Lucille Kidila 2nd place - Percy Aherd and Stephen Chapman 3rd place*- Kathy Bailey and Jim Evans-Smith Most effort with least points award- Billy Megraw and Jane Paulsen. Look forward to more novelty events in the near future and start sharpening up your slalom technique for the Club Championship! RECREATION BRIEFS - by David Courtemanche CRAFT DISPLAY AND DEMONSTATION n Sat. March Ist.: (afternoon) Members of the Lakehead and area craft association and Nipigon- Redrock craft guild will display and demonstrate _ the making of various forms of crafts. Young or old, if you have a craft such as weaving, ceram- ics, woodworking, block printing, copper todling, . copper enamelling, jewellery, candle making, knitting etc. and would like to display it pleade phone the recreation office 3542 to indicate your interest and to reserve a spot. This promises to be an exciting and creative day: for the whole family. MILLINERY WORKSHOP: Here is an opportunity to make your new Easter bonnet or remodel that old hat on Friday Feb. 21st. Mrs. Lozowy well known LakeheadT. V. personality will be in Terrace Bay for 2 days to conduct this workshop. She will dem- onstrate how to trim a hat and advise how to buy a hat that will suit your personality. Scissors, thread, pins, tape measure and approx. 1/2 a yard of material and pieces of dress lining will be require for the workshop. Mrs. Lozowy will have some hat forms, materials and linings available. Hat forms will sell for approx. $1.35 each. Anyone wishing to register for this workshop should do so by: Friday Feb. 14 at the recreation office. Hurry and register before we reoch our maximum for registrations This is your chance to make a hat of the latest style or remodel your old hat to suit your wardrobe. Further information can be obtained by phoning the recreation office 3542. UPHOLSTERY WORKSHOP - Here is the workshop that may help us all save a dollar. On Friday March 7th Mr. M. L. Littleford of Chesterfield House Fort William will be here to conduct on upholstery work= shop. The session start on Friday from 7 p-m. to 10 p.m. Saturday 9.30 a.m. to 12 noon, 1.30 p.m. to 5.00 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. On Sunday session will be from 1.00 p.m. to 4.00 p.m. All sessions will be at the Recreation Centre. Participants can bring a kitchen chair, footstool, occasional chairs, small one preferred, no loose cushion chairs unless you plan to continue on after the workshop, small bedroom chairs, antique chairs, or love seats. Everyone should try and bring a small hammer, or magnetic tack hammer if possible; screw drivers all sizes, square and flat head; pliers or cutters and hand stapler if available. Mr Littleford will be bringing leatherettes, vinyls upholstering fabrics, felt padding, foam rubber, tacks and nails etc. If you can submitt a sample or advise the Recreation Office the colours you require in leatherette or material, Mr. Littleford will attempt to bring them.
