SERVING THE DISTRICT NOVEMBER 14, 1968 - REMEMBRANCE DAY SERVICES HELD ON SATURDAY VOL. 11, NO. 44 KIMBERLY-CLARK PULP AND PAPER co. LTD. TO HONOUR TRADES GRADUATES A most impressive Remembrance Day Parade took place in Terrace Bay on Saturday, November 9th. Parade Marshal for the day was Alphonse Theriault of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 223. Taking part in the Parade were a color party from Marathon, with Legion President Bob Johnson; the Marathon Army Cadet Corps with Officer in Charge Gordon Dyer; the Marathon High School Band, under Bandmaster Gunter Wertz; the Terrace Bay Sea Cadet Corps and band; the Terrace Bay color party with Lillian Belliveau representing the Ladies Auxiliary; members of the Ladies Auxiliary, veterans and Guides and Brownies. Gathering at the Cenotaph, Rev. G. Husser led in prayer. Bert Lohr played the Last Post, while a good- ly number of citizens were on hand to observe the two minute silence. Wreaths were laid at the foot of the Cenotaph by various organizations and all the business extablish- ments of Terrace Bay. Sentries from the Sea Cadet Corps formed a Guard of Honour at the Cenotaph. They were: J. Vienneau, R. Roberts, T. Vezina and J. Corrigan. In the evening, veterans and their ladies, with other invited guests, gathered at the Masonic Hall for the annual banquet. Retiring President of the Branch 223, Pat Jones, welcomed the guests. Rev. Husser pronounced Grace. A Toast to the Queen and a toast to the Fallen were given. Head table guests included Mrs. Pam Jones, Mr. and Mrs. J. Ferrier, Reeve and Mrs. Cavanaugh, Rev. and Mrs. Husser, and Mr. and Mrs. G. Churney. ~ The photo on page 8 shows the Guard of Honour. ttre On Friday, November 15th, Kimberly-Clark will hold a Graduation Dinner at the Terrace Bay Motor Hotel to honour nine graduates of the Trades Training Program. Seven employees will have completed the three year Trades Trainttg Program while two have com- pleted the Helper Training Program. Graduated to Tradesmen are four Pipefitters, two Instrument Mecha nics, two Electricians and one Millwright. Kimberly-Clark has been conducting a formal tradesman training program since 1950. Including this year's graduates, there has been sixty-four em- ployees trained as tradesmen. Guest speaker at the dinner on November 15th will 'be Mr. W. Rowsome, Principal of the Terrace Bay High School. Mr. Rowsome's talk will be expecially significant as the Terrace Bay High School has ex- panded this year to include the Science, Trades and Technology option. en PLEASE NOTE: NEW OFFICE HOURS alent etc te For the time being, the Doctor's Office hours will be 9 - 12a.m. and 2-5p.m., Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday; 9 - 12 a.m. only on Wednesday and Saturday.
