Pat Smith, fifteen-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Cleon Smith of Terrace Bay, deserves a pat on the back. He recently found a fairly large sum of mon- ey and reported his find to his parents, who turned the money over to the local police. On Monday, a gentleman from Saskatchewan phoned inquiring if any money had been found here and was informed that it had. He will be back in Terrace Bay next week to claim his cash. RECREATION BRIEFS - by David Courtemanche Upholstery Course - There has been some indication of interest in this craft, but not sufficient as yet to warrant an attempt to obtain an instructor to come ft Terrace Bay. If you are interested but haven't yet called us, please do so as quickly as possible so Telephone 3542 - the Recreation Office. Sewing Course - Applications are still being receiv- ed for this course, which is expected:to commence on Tuesday, September 17th. Judging from the number of responses, it appears likely that both afte noon and evening sessions will be held. Mrs. Helen Brooks will again be the instructress, and there will be a fee of $1 per session, which will be payable at the first evening or afternoon lesson. There is still time to register in this course - call the Recreation Office, 3542, and indicate your preference of after noon or evening. Art Instruction - The regular sessions of the Terrace Bay Art Club will start on Thursday, September 12th at 8 p.m. in meeting room #3 of the Recreation Centre. New members, both young and old, are welcome to attend. The registration fee is $4 per year. On Tuesday, slides of local scenery will be shown. Bring a pencil, charcoal and paper. If you able at the session. Proposed Art Workshop - The Art Club is planning to hold a Fall workshop at the Recreation Centre on the weekend of September 27,28 & 29th. It will be conducted by John Watson, well-known Toronto art instructor. The workshop will be for beginners as well as advanced persons . More information will be printed in the NEWS when it becomes available. ¢ Swim Award Roller Skating Party - All persons who , won swimming awards this year are invited to attend a roller skating party as guests of the Recreation " Committee this coming Sunday, September 15th at 2 p.m. in the Arena. All the swimming awards will be presented at this time, and free roller skating will be provided for everyone. Come out and get your award, and have some fun roller skating . See you at the party. Roller Skating - Roller skating will be held again this Sunday, starting at 7 p.m. in the Arena. Last week a large. crowd skated to the new music tapes which have been obtained. This Sunday, the Arena snack bar will be open for your convenience. Bring the family - come out and join the fun. Swim Pool - It is quite evident that Indian Summer is not coming; therefore, we are closing the pool for the year. See you next year. Tennis Courts - The tennis court nets will remain in position for another week or so, in the hope that we may obtain some good weather to allow a few more games before the end of the season. Lacrosse - This coming Saturday evening, September 14th, two Terrace Bay lacrosse teams will be travell- ing to Manitouwadge for games. Juniors, 10 to 15 years of age, will be playing at 7.30 p.m. and the seniors, 15 years and over, will be playing at 8.30 Practises will be held every night this week in the Arena, with the exception of Thursday. There will be return games on the weekend of Sep- tember 28th, when Manitouwadge will come to town. Only those boys who have been attending the practises will be allowed to go to the games. The boys have improved immensely over last year, which promises a far better showing on our part during these coming games. Any spectators and supporters from Terrace Bay are welcome to travel with us to Manitou wadge. Anyone wishing to take players will be paid $1.00 per player that they transport, which will assist in their gasoline expenses . Anyone wishing to obtain new or used lacrosse sticks should contact the Recreation Office. Instruction Courses - Have you a hobby or interest that you would like to receive more information on? Notify the Recreation Office if you have, and we will endeavour to fulfill your needs or requirements .
