ROAD CANCER SOCIETY PRESENTS NEW OFFICERS The Cancer Society of Terrace Bay held their reg- ular meeting in the basement of the Community Chureh. The main purpose of the meeting was to present the new slate of officers to take office in September. Mrs. Lil Harris presented the new slate as follows: President = Mrs. Vivian Rapke; Vice- president - Mrs. Dorothy Rafalant; Secretary - Mrs . 'Mae Dorland; Treasurer - Mrs. Mary Hale; Campaig Charman - Mrs. Lil Harris; Maintenance - Mrs. Ursula Wills; Nominating Chairman - Mrs. Lil Harris Medical Advisory Chaitman - Dr. M. McCausland; Publicity Chairman - Mrs. Ursula Wills; Service to Patients Chairman and Co-chairman - Mrs. Helen Brooks and Mrs. Georgina Heenan; Mrs. Rapke thanked the retiring officers for their time given in the past year. The In Memoriam Cards hadn't been used as much this year asin past years. Perhaps some people don' know how these are used. A donation of your choice, in memory of the Deceased, is given to the Cancer Society, and a card is sent to the bereaved family. If it is not convenient to pick up your card, all that is required is a phone call, giving the information, anda card will be mailed out that day. At your convenience, a donation may be made to the Cancer Society, when you will receive an official receipt. Please contact Mrs. Vivian Rapke for further information. Mrs. Wills has received word that any students wishing information for essays, should contact her, rather than sending to Toronto. A new catalogue of available material has been received. Ontario. TOUR LAKEHEAD © Terrace Bay had a most interesting three day tour around the Lakehead cities. Leaving here on a char- ; tered Greyhound bus early Wednesday morning, in charge of Ray Kenney, Principal, they arrived in Port Arthur and stayed at the Prince Arthur Motor Hotel . ur. They were taken on a guided bus tour of Port Arth-| They first visited the Public Utilities Building, where they were shown how the billing was done for | the various utilities. Then they moved to the Counci Chambers, where they met Mayor Laskin, who proved} to be a. delightful host. Mr. Laskin explained to an interested group, how a City Council managed the 'city's business . The telephone exchange proved another great source of interest to the pupils. They also visited the Transit depot. Thursday morning, the pupils took a bus out to Lakehead Airport and were eye-witnesses to an ex- plosion and crash of a plane. They toured an Air Canada plane before it's take-off and were shown through the Air Terminal building.
