TERRACE BAY NEWS SCHREIBER Mr. and Mrs. Rodney Bryson and son Kenny of Dartsmouth have come to make their home in Schrei- ber. Mr. and Mrs. Neil Bottomley had the latters sister and her husband, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Anderson of Larder Lake visiting them last week. -- Mr. and Mrs. M.B. Gilmour of Dauphin, Manitob¢ visited their nephew, Allan Gilmour, en route to Almonte, Ontario. Mr. and Mrs. Brian Duncan with Brian Jr. of Red Lake, visited Mr. and Mrs. Leonard ©'Brien last week. Visiting recently with Mr. and Mrs. M. Perrault and Mr. John Carty were Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Chateau, of Sault Ste. Marie; Mrs. C. Berrigan of Ottawa, and Mrs. Oliver Gate of Gatineau Mills. Mr. and Mrs. Vic Hannam of Carlton Place visited old friends here last week - the guests of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Winters . Visiting Mr. and Mrs. Ross Hill last week were their daughters; Paula Hill, Dale (Mrs. Fric Juvonen and her husband, and Mrs. Hill's brother, Fred Goobie - all of Toronto. Mr. K.S. Wahl of the Thunder Bay Regional Lib- rary was in Schreiber last week to make an exchange of 370 books, pictures and carvings, with the public library. There will not be another exchange until September. W.G. Furlonger, chairman of the public school board, was in the Lakehead last Friday, to attend a conference at the Teachers' College, which was also attended by Rev. Sister St. Timothy, principal of Holy Angels' School and Mrs. Bill Mullins, secretary of the school board. Mrs. Mullins, with Mrs. Alec Gordon and Gerry Thrower of the public school board also attended a metting of school trustees. The Schreiber Progressive Conservative Association held a meeting in the dining room of the Schreiber Hotel to appoint delegates to attend a meeting in Nipigon on Sunday, May 12, when a candidate for the party will be elected. It was a small Schreiber re-union at the formal o- pening of Pinewood Court in Fort William, with Mrs. Fred Miller cutting the ribbon, and Mrs. Lauri Halonen, a patient at the Pinewood Court also atten ding. Attending the occasion were Reeve F.V. Har- ness and Mrs. Harness; Mrs. Mary Jarva, town clerk treasurer; Mr. and Mrs. Ken Davis; Len Hiller; George McCouan, and Mrs. Edwin Holmes. MAY 9, 1968 Constable Alan Austin, O.P-P. Force has been conducting lectures in safety in both the Separate and Public schools in Schreiber. Be ee ei Re ie ae RR Ses i IRS a on ial al PUBLIC HEARING HELD RE PROPOSED SEWAGE A public hearing re the proposed sewage works in Schreiber was held last week. Attending were the following: Mr. John Root, vice chairman of the O.W.R.C.; Hugh Brown, member of the commission Harold Browne, supervisor of sewage works; Jim Stasiuk, district engineers' staff; M. Scwartz, en= gineer of M.M.- Dollon Ltd., London, Ontario; Reeve F.V. Harness; councillors J.-S. Caccamo, H.H. Fischer and F. Borutcki, town water works superintendent; J.-E. Stokes, M-L-A-; Lloyd Small and Sulo Pelto on whose property it is proposed to be located; Bill Tripp and Lou Karns, representing the C.P.R.; and other interested citizens. The meeting was called by the O.W.R.C. to ex- plain the sewage treatment Plant and to find out if there is any objection to the location of the treat- ment site. Harold Browne read section #31, subsections 1 and 3; and section #32A, subsection 1 of the Ontario Water Resources Commission Act, which requires a public hearing. Mr. Browne stated correspondence had been for- warded to the clerk of the township re the proposed hearing and to the owners of the property on which the project is proposed. oe (Cont'd on page 14)
