TERRACE BAY NEWS SCHREIBER Mr. and Mrs. D'Arcy McDonald, with their two daughters of Markstay, Ontario, and Miss Cathy O' Brien of Pembrook, visited Mr. and Mrs. Leonard O' Brien last week. Sharon O'Brien is visiting Mr. and Mrs. Brian Duncan in Red Lake. Alex McCuaig of Toronto visited Mr. and Mrs. Lester McCuaig over the weekend. Mr. and Mrs. Austin Cosgrove are in Toronto visit ing their son Gus, who is taking treatment in the hospital, and their son Don and family. Mrs. Mary Sparks and daughter Jo Anne, Mrs. David Nesbitt and Walter Ilijow, were all in Fort William on April 20 to attend the funeral of J. Dromisky . Mrs. Henry Scott of North Bay is the guest of Mrs. Innes West. The collectors for the Cancer Society will make their door-to-door canvas this week and it is hoped the response will be generous. The United Church Women have had to cancel the smorgsbord planned for May 12th. Qe eS Re ae: 2 ES eS SS CATHOLIC WOMENS LEAGUE The following new slate of officers for the Schrei- ber Catholic Women's League were introduced by Mrs. Penny Caccamo, chairman of the nominating committee, and installed by Father J.M. Cano , at the regular meeting on April 21st: Mrs. Kay Stefurak, President; Mrs. Teresa Stortini, first vice-president; Mrs. Delores Spikula, second vice-president; Mrs. Irene Borutski, third vice-presi dent; Miss Marion Frescott, Recording secretary;Mrs. Joyce Jarosz, corresponding secretary; Mrs. Rena Ross, treasurer; other officers by appointment of the president. The meeting was opened by Mrs. Norah McGuire, retiring after two years as president, who thanked the members and director Father Cano, for their co- operation, and in turn was given a standing ovation for her service. All members were invited to attend a special Mass on April 29th at 5.15 p.m. honoring the Feast Day of Our Lady of Good Council ( patroness of the Catholic Women's League) It was agreed to convene the annual mothers and daughters' banquet of the Guides and Brownies on May 1 in the Guild Hall, to start at 6 p.m., and a wedding breakfast on June 15. APRIL 25, 1968 A donation was made to the Cancer Society. _ Mrs. Gloria Mullins agreed to convene the new project - compiling a cook book. A letter of appreciation was received from the family in India adopted by the local C.W.L. Monthly and annual reports were read by the treas urer and all convenors. Mrs. Ann Banning, Spiritual Convenor, stated the Rosary for World Peace would be recited daily throughout the month of May. Mrs. Lila Morrow, Education Convenor, thanked the Brownies and their leaders for books donated to the Parish library. There were 40 ladies present and the draw prize, donated by Mrs. G. Lemieux, was won by Mrs. Joyce Jarosz. RR CR Ir ie ie a Ca Re a ee CS ie orgy, MRS. A BROWN HONORED ON 80th BIRTHDAY Mrs. A. Brown was honored on her 80th birthday at a reception in the home of her daughter, Mrs. Alec Gordon, attended by many friends in the comm unity and from out-of-town. The tea was poured by Mrs. Henry Davis and Mrs. Charlie Firman of Fort William, and the callers served by Mrs. Victor Costa, Mrs. Bruce Gordon and Miss Crystal Kusik Mesdames Russell Macadam, Bruce Simon, and Rene Bedard replenished. On behalf of her friends, Mrs. Gary Drake presented a handbag and a gift of money and many other personal gifts were also presented to Mrs. Brown in token of their good wishes. A family dinner was held in her honor on the day' prior to the reception. Attending from out-of-town were Mrs. Brown's son Bruce and his wife from Kap- uskasing, her daughter Marjorie Firman and her husband, Mrs. Henry Davis, Mrs. Fred Hiller, Mrs. George Bailey of Fort William, Mr. and Mrs. C.
