Vol 11, No. 14 PEEWEES WIN NORTH SHORE HOCKEY TITLE The Terrace Bay Pee Wee "miracle" All Star team beat Manitouwadge last week-end in a two game tot- al goal series. Score was 9-8 for Terrace Bay. The first game Friday night was a 4-4 tie. Terrace Bay got on the score-board first with a goat by M. Dashkewytch but the smooth skating Manitouwadge All-Stars tied it up with a goal by Wieteska. From that point on Manitouwadge kept the lead with goals by Myles, Kusins and Ward. Terrace Bay kept digg- ing but were kept one goal behind. M. Dashkewytch got the second goal, R. Zwaresh the third, and in the dying minutes of the game Hanley tied it up to set the stage for the final game Saturday afternoon for the North Shore Championship. For two periods and most of the third it was Mani- touwadge's game on Saturday. Their skating and Passing out-cleaned the Terrace Bay Club, and late in the third period it was 3-0 for Manitouwadge on goals from Ward, Acourt and Kusins. At this point in the game, it looked like Terrace Bay had run out of steam and miracles. Playing with 12 players, the were near the point of exhaustion. With about seven minutes remaining, Manitouwadge got a two minute penalty. (Cont'd on page 8) SERVING THE DISTRICT April 4, 1968 LADIES BONSPIEL B Ida Romaniuk throwing first rock- Last weekend, Terrace Bay Ladies Curling Club sponsored their annual Bonspiel, and from all ap- pearances, the ladies on the thirty-two rinks en- tered, had a wonderful time. Six rinks came from Fort William, five from Schreiber, four from Wawa three from Port Arthur, two from Marathon, one from Heron Bay, one from Sault Ste. Marie , one from Atikokan, and nine from the local club. The 'spiel got underway at 11 a.m. Friday, when Club President, Ida Romaniuk (as shown in the photo above by M. Lundberg) threw the first rock. Competition was keen, and many fine shots were played. Some light-hearted episodes took place such as the garb donned by a young quart- ette from Wawa (all fine curlers) who appeared on the ice for Saturday night's draw wearing mini skirts and leotards. An enjoyable banquet was held at the Moose Hall on Saturday evening with many novelty prizes given away, and for entertainment, a hilarious skit was, enacted by several members of the club.
