Mrs. Joe Spavor, with Michael and Steven of Fort William, visited the Norman Bottomley family this weekend. A cavalcade from Schreiber High School travelled to Geraldton on Friday to enter both boy's and girl's basketball teams, and the school cheerleaders' group in the North Western Ontario final competition. The entire town was distressed over the critical injuries suffered by Gus Cosgrove, who slipped and fell under a moving train while switching at Mara- thon on February 7th. Gus was given emergency treatment at Marathon and then rushed to the Port Arthur General. Gus is 30 years old and a native of Schreiber. He was employed as a trainman with CPR. The winners in the January curling club home bingo were Mrs. David Nesbitt, Mrs. Jack Corbett, Mrs. J.D. Bryson, and Liz Burns of Terrace Bay. STOKES TOURS RIDING During a three day tour of the Thunder Bay riding Jack Stokes, MPP visited Nipigon, McDiarmid, Beardmore, Geraldton, Long Lac, Nakina and Armstrong. Among problems presented for his atten- tion were employment, housing, water resources, and the general economic future of the north. In Armstrong, Mr. Stokes met with one of the me bers of the Company of Young Canadians who inform ed him of conditions in schooling and housing of Indian people. A general feeling of frustration is experienced in almost all communities visited, due to the apparent lack of interest shown by various agencies in regard to development of the northland and its resources. Mr. and Mrs. Stokes are in Toronto for the open- ing of Parliament on February 14th. They were accompanied by his mother, Mrs. E. Brown of Fort William. The Canadian Legion are planning their annual bonspiel for February 16th and 17th. TERRACE BAY NEWS LADIES' AUXILIARY TO THE CANADIAN LEGION A Sadie Hawkins social evening was planned for February 29th at the regular meeting of the ladies" auxiliary to the Can. Legion, with Mrs. Jack Win- ters presiding. Members may bring guests to this party. . Other social evenings were planned for February 13th and 27th. The Legion bonspiel was set for February 16-17 with names to be phoned in to the Legion. Mrs. Ken Davis, secretary, read a letter giving details on the auxiligry district meeting being held in the Ortona Legion, Fort William on March 30. The appointment of delegates was held over until the March meeting. The auditors, Mrs. Norman McCuaig and Mrs. Bruce Lidkea reported finding the books in order. Members were reminded that dues should be paid. There will be the added attraction of live music at the Sadie Hawkins Night. Mrs. Neil Nesbitt and Mrs. Keith Nesbitt, con- venors for the February 13 and 17 evenings asked for assistants.
