The Terrace Bay Recreation Committee wishes to announce the elec- tion of Mr. George Ramsay to the position of Chair- man, and Mr. Clarence Buck to the position of Vice Chairman. Sewing Course : Another Sewing Course will be started on Tuesday, February 6th, at 7 p.m. in the meeting room #3 (art gallery) of the Recreation Centre. Mrs. J. Brooks will again instruct this course, and registration fee is $8.00 for 8 weeks, with an advance fee of $4.00 payable the first night of the course. Be sure to bring a pen, notebook and cloth tape measure. Also, you may bring any patt- erns and material on which you wish to work. Please indicate your desire to attend these classes by phon- ing the Recreation Office (3542) prior to the start- ing date, as a minimum number of registrations will be required before commencing this course. Art Club Annual Elections: The Art Club announces that they will olding their annual elections on Thursday, Folie: Ist, at the auice meeting of the Art Club in meeting room #3 of the Centre at 7 p.m. Adult Art Course : Teen-age boys and girls will be accepted as well as adults. Registrations are still being accepted for this course. The registration fee is $5.00 to cover the entire 10 week course, payable in advance. Instructress is Mrs. --, Middaugh . The classes are held in meeting room #3 (art gallery) at 8 p.m. However, during the week of January 29 the art instruction class will be held on Tuesday evening, January 30 at 8 p.m. This change is for that particular week only. Tap and Ballet Dance Classes : Classes are held Tuesdays from 6.30 to 7.15 p.m. in meeting room #] of the Recreation Centre. An advance fee of $2.00 will cover 4 sessions at 50¢ per week. In- structress is Mrs. D. Kirkup. Special classes will be held for older girls, 10 and over, at 7.15 p.m. Ladies' Keep Fit Classes: Held Tuesday evenings, from 8.15 to 9.15 p.m. at the High School Auditor- ium. Registration fee is $3.00, which pays for 4 weeks in advance. Instructess is Mrs. D. Kirkup. There is still an opportunity to enroll in this class - join your friends at the High School. Be sure to dress in slacks or leotards and soft shoes . Ice Skating Instruction : The "Learn to Skate" and advanced skating programmes will be held at the arena on Wednesdays, at 4p.m. The course is for TERRACE: BAY NEWS 7 lete the course. JANUARY 25, 1968 both boys and girls, and an advance fee of $1.50 will be charged ( 25¢ per week) to help offset the cost of crests which will be awarded to all persons whg comp This is a new programme, never conducted before in Terrace Bay, so be sure you take advantage of it while it is possible. Thus far, regis= trations appear to be very promising. Any type of skate may be worn. Public Skating Hours : are held as follows: Wednesdays - 1.30 to 3.30 (pre-school skating) Fridays - 7.00 to 9.30 p.m. Sundays - 1.30 to 4.00p.m. 7.00 to9.00p. Wednesdays - 3.30 to 5.30 (public skating) Please cut this out of the paper and use for your own reference. : Instructional Courses tor 1968-69 Season For your information, the following instructional courses are being planned for Terrace Bay: Art Workshop (drawing and portraiture)-March 21,22 and 23rd, 1968. Skiing Instructional Clinic - February, 1969. Gymnastic Clinic - October or November 1968. Curling Instructional Clinic - November or December | 1968. Badminton Instructional Clinic - October or Novem= ber 1968. Competitive Swimming Instructional Clinic - July or August, 1968. New programmes and instructional classes may be supplied upon request and sufficient interest. We are here to serve you, and can only be guided by your requests. Recreation is a Way of Life for all.
