There are thirteen grandchildren and eleven great grandchild- ren. : The funeral will be held at 2.30 p.m. on Tuesday , January 9th in the Gawley Funeral Home followed by a service-in St. Andrews Church at 3 p.m. Mr. McCouan was a member of the Oddfellows Lodge, the |.0..O .F. and the Brotherhood of Loco- motive Engineers. ROSSPORT NEWS Miss Shirley Bouchard has returned from Toronto. She was accompanied by her father, Romeo Bouch- ard. Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Gerow and Michael visited Mr. and Mrs. M. Hubelit during the Christmas holidays. Mrs. M. Matchett, has returned from holidaying in the Toronto area. School reopened Wednesday . Lenard Ibey is home from Terrace Bay hospital . Mr. and Mrs. Herb Legault are home after holid- _ aying with relatives at the Lakehead. | Mr. and Mrs. E. Page and family have returned from a holiday at Sudbury. Mr. and Mrs. W. Schelling left Monday for Duluth, Minn. : Mrs. Hattie Yandon entertained the Five Hundred Card Club Wednesday evening. Prizes were won by Mrs. Bertha Lif, Mrs. Eileen Rouble and Miss Patsy Gerow. The hostess served luncheon from a table decorated in the festive season colours. The Village young people sang Christmas Carols from door to door on Christmas Eve. They were led by Mrs. J. Spillett and Miss Camilla Todesco. The age old custom of singing old and new carols throug town was welcomed by the villagers. Those taking part were Maxine Hubelit, Rosanne Rochon, Georg Spencer, Audrey Spencer, Shirley Spencer, Joyce Mushqush, Roger Spence, Wayne Spence and Agnes Mushqush . Concern is felt by householders over the lack of snow and constant frost going deeper in the ground causing water and oil pipes to freeze. Temperature ranged from 20 to 35 below zero and cars are frozen up even if plugged in. Everyone prays for a good snowfall to bank houses and insulate waterworks. The prolonged cold spell is making heavy inroads on fuel supplies. M. Kulmatycki ANGLICAN CHURCH WOMEN SCHREIBER NEWS LONG TIME SCHREIBER RESIDENT DIES Manuel Wilfred McCouan passed away in Terrace Bay Hospital on January 7th, following a lengthy illness. ; Born in Ashton, Ontario in 1886, Mr. McCouan came to Schreiber in 1906 and was employed as a locomotive fireman. He was with the C .P.R. until his retirement in 1950 at which time he was a passenger Engineer . He is survived by his wife, the former Mrs. A buffet supper in the home of Mrs. D.Q. Hamilton preceded the regular meeting of the Anglican Church Women, Thursday, January 4. Mrs. Eva Bailey of Fort William was a guest at the supper. Mrs. A.C. Rigelsford presided for the short business meeting and Mrs. J.D. Bryson led in the devotional period. Various reports were present ed and the last year's affairs disposed of. The next meeting will be held February 7 at 2 p.m. at the home of Mrs. J. Corbett. Following the meeting there was an exchange of ifts and a round of cards finished the evening.
