ROSSPORT NEWS The Centennial Committee met Thursday evening with the president, Mrs. Anne Todescoe hosting and presiding at the event. Several letters of apprecia- tion for the Centennial re-union were read and from 4.30 to 7 p.m. in the school community hall. Convenors were appointed for the different projects in conjunction with the dinner. Members made plans for a final get together party before the year end as a final gesture in celebrating Canada's Centennial year. Refreshments were serv- ed and a social hour followed. Messrs. Patrick and Roger Auger visited relatives in, the Lakehead over the weekend. Mr. & Mrs. T.F. Seppala returned this week from Toronto. Floyd Harden left to attend Lakehead University . Mr. & Mrs. Romeo Bouchard took their daughter Shirley to Toronto Sick Children's Hospital where she will undergo an operation. Enroute they left Anita with Mr. & Mrs. A.Huard at Marathon and Alice and baby with other relatives at Sault Ste. Marie. Mr. & Mrs. W.Hub elit were business visitors to Port Arthur Friday. They were accompanied by Alfred Ray. Mr. & Mrs. A. McEwen of Geraldton visited rela- tives here recently. SCHREIBER NEWS Mr. & Mrs. B. Sernesky and their family have re- turned home to Arcata, California after visiting Mrs. Sernesky's mother, Mrs. Mary McGrath, and friends in Terrace Bay. His old friends in Schreiber were shocked and sorry to hear of Jim Hastin g's death in Montreal . Reo Nagasaka of Windsor visited friends here en- route to spen d his vacation with his parents in Winnipeg. George Duncan is away attending Expo. Mrs. Leonard O'Brien with daughter Mary Lynne and niece Janie Duggan have returned from a holi- day spent with Mr. & Mrs. D'Arcy MacDonald in Markstay, and Mr. & Mrs. Falls. TERRACE BAY NEWS highly praised the committees in charge. Plans were finalized for a bean supper to be held on October |5 Mrs. Ibey read the minutes of the previous meeting. Mrs. W. Bailey presiding. Plans were made to hold their annual Fall Hat Show on Sept. 28 in the town hall at 8 p.m. Lunch will be served. Mrs. E. Barrett, of Quebec City is visiting her daughter Mrs. M. Ferland and family. Boyd Drake will attend Lakehead University this year. Marjorie Bolan is staying with Daughters of ot Paul Order in Montreal while completing her comm- ercial course. ; Due to conflicting dates the U.C.W. have post- poned their Christmas Bazaar to December 2. Spending the weekend with Mr. & Mrs. Gerald Banning were Mr. & Mrs. Cy Copps of Fort William and Mr. & Mrs. David Bannign and Mr. & Mrs. Morris Thompson of Nipigon. Mrs. Forbes Macadam is in Port Arthur General Hospital . WOMEN'S INSTITUTE MEETING HELD Members at the Women's Institute meeting September 12 answered roll call with bouquets of flowers for shut-ins, donations for a penny auction, and donations of used clothing for the Children's Aid Society. Motto for the meeting was 'If you plant a seed of character in the home it will bloom in the community .' Since the orders for an Almey crab tree was too late for planting this year it will be held over for spring delivery.
