September 7, 1967 FERRACE BAY NEWS Page 1] RECREATION BRIEFS Swim Pool - The local Swim Meet of the season * was held last Saturday at the swimming pool with a fair attendance on hand. On behalf of the Rec- reation Committee, Mr. Clarence Buck presented trophies to Norma Chesley and Jim Shivas , who were the leading girl and boy scorers in the event. The Duriez Trophy was presented to Marlyn Mac- Donald by Mr. John Dejonghe on behalf of the Duriez family. This trophy is awarded annually to the person who has been judged to be the most out- standing swimmer of the season in all respects, and it is considered to be quite an honour to achieve this award. One interesting n ote was that Norma Chesley swam against the boys in their events since there was no competition for her in similar events for girls. Winners of the various events, first, second and | third respectively were: Boys - Geo. Dashxewytch, Jim Shivas, Glen Kujbida, Leo Legault, Ricky : Hamilton, Bevin Schritt, David Ramsay, Paul Belli- veau, John Legault, John Farrell, Chink Daley, Charlie Simmer, Blaine Neely, Bill Conway, Edward Angus, Dale Keating, Don McMillan, Greg Chep- elsky, Raymond Kurylo, David Liebrock, Doug Angus, Peter Dashkewytch, Glen Chepelsky , Bill and Don Keating, Terry Keating, David Cruic - shank. Girls - Norma Chesley, Wendy McMillan, Wendy Evans-Smith, Phyllis Turner, Teresa Ramsay, Anita Stuart, Susan Pluta, Debbie Kujbida, Sharon Bougie, Sally Turner, Joan Belliveau, Cecile Stuart, Carol Daley , Marilyn Kujbida, Rosemary Pattison, Beverley Legault, Marlyn MacDonald, Jane Persson, Gail Gould, Nancy Bouchard, Shiela Ballentine, Adele Desrosiers, Greg. Chesley, son of Mrs. Mary Chesley, Terrace Bay who has just completed basic training in St. Jean Quebec and is now in Ottawa taking _ a Communications _ Course with the a Michael P.H. Evans-Smith son of Mr. & Mrs. D.H. Evans-Smith of Terrace Bay enlisted in the United States Marine Corps August 29. Michael is a former student of Terrace B ay High School. Michael was transferred to the Marine Corps Re- cruit Training Command at San Diego, California. On successfully completing his training Michael will have prepared himself for his position ;with the Always Ready Fleet Marine Force with duty stations that cover the globe.
