COUNCIL QUOTES ( from Page 7) Sketch plans of homes the Department of Lands & Forests propose to build in Terrace Bay were submitted for approval . Recreation accounts of $6,810.29 were passed for payment. Councillor Caccamo asked for procedural direction re maintenance bills accrued by the Recreation Centr¢ and asked that steps be taken to assure that a snow blower was available for use when winter arrived. Councillor Desrosier reported on the current street cleaning program, that new street signs have been installed, on results of local inquires into purchase of a pay loader. Councillor Bray asked that hourly rate be set for relief police. The motion passed set this at $3.00 per hour. Reeve Cavanaugh stated he was not impressed with the "case for O.P.P. take-over of municipal polic- ing" as presented at last week's Ontario Municipal League's convention held at the Lakehead. A short discussion on the dog-catcher situation TERRACE BAY NEWS ended on a note of optimism and further investiga- tion into indoor quarters promised by the Reeve. ' VANDALISM AT CENTENNIAL PARK Progress on the work at Terrace Bay's Centennial Park has been hampered all summer by petty acts of vandalism. Flowers and shrubs have been ripped up and figurines moved, sometimes right out of the park boundary. Last week committee chairman A. Farrow reported that the Guide-Brownie plot had been desecrated and some of the figures toppled or moved. One figure is quite heavy and it would take a husky 12 or 13 year old boy to move it. Rocks have also been pried out of their bases in the fountain. We are sure adult residents take pride in this pro- ject and that they will take time to explain to their youngsters that this community project merits their respect. Anyone noticing children (or adults) mutilating or destroyin g any part of our community facilities is urged to caution the youngsters or report same to the authorities.
