TERRACE BAY NEWS SCHREIBER NEWS Mr. & Mrs. Austin Cosgrove will hold an open reception at their home in honour of Mr. & Mrs. Edward McGregor whose marriage will take place that day. Mrs. McGregor is Mr. & Mrs. Cosgrove's daughter Mantill, The reception will take place from 8 to 10 p.m. Miss Carole Holmes, bride-elect of this week, was honored by her friends at a shower tea arranged in the home of Miss Heather Graham on August 23. Receiving with Miss Holmes were her mother, Mrs. Charles Holmes, and her fiance's mother Mrs. Wm. Russell of Toronto, and the hostess. The tea was poured by Mrs. Con. Duggan and Miss Irene Spicer. Servitors were Mrs. Barry Harper and Misses Doris McParland, Sandra Kragero(Toronto) _ and Sylvia Harness (Fort William). Replenishing were Mesdames Wayne Wilson, B ill Lidkea, Charlie Pearson, and David Rigelsford. Miss Muriel Nesbitt was in charge of the guest book. The bride's cake centred on the tea table was decorated by a friend on the staff of St. Michael's Hospital in Toronto where Miss Holmes has been employed. Attending the shower from out of town were: Mrs. Jack Russell, Montreal; Mrs. Ron Bimson, Toronto; and Mrs. George Legault, Montreal . Mrs. Richard Oldale of Port Arthur is visiting her parents Mr. & Mrs. Paul Humin icki. Mr. & Mrs. George Lowry of Almonte visited nephew Allan Gilmour enroute home after a long western vacation. Mr. & Mrs. Alvin Slater are home after attending a Slater family re-union in Arnprior. Among the visitors entertained by Mr. & Mrs. Bill Kushnieryk this past month have been Mr. & Mrs. Ed Barnaby of Welland, Ontario - Mrs. Barnaby and former Donna Campbell daughter of the late Don Campbell of Schreiber, Judy & Jim McDonald of New Germany, New York, Allan Linda Zwena of Winnipeg, Mr. & Mrs. L. Hooper of Billings, Montana, Louis Wilcouex of Owls Head, New York, Mr. & Mrs. Joe Galonski and. family of Winnipeg, Mr. & Mrs. Larry Spicer and Larry Jr. of Wawa, George Orser, Sandy Glowacky of Fort William and Stan Timmerman of Red Rock, Mrs. Kushnieryk's mother Mrs. J. Kalochin of Winnipeg, On returning home she took grand-daughter Karen to Winnipeg Beach and other Manitoba points after which her parents went to visit and bring her home. Reeve and Mrs. Fred Harness and daughter Helen are attending Expo and will visit in New Hampshire, Toronto and Ottawa and Hamilton. . Mrs. George Lemieux has returned home after a six month stay in Ottawa during her daughter Olive's fatal illness. Adrian Boulan ger is going to North Bay where he will be employed by the C.P.R. car department. Mr. & Mrs. Tom Whitton, Mr. & Mrs. Wesley Miller and Mrs. Jack Corbett attended the Robert- son-Soucy wedding in Fort William after which Mrs. Corbett flew to Victoria for a visit. Mrs. George Legault and son David of Montreal have spent the past month with Mr. & Mrs. J.D. Bryson, Mrs. Legault's parents. Miss Gwendoline Hadley, of Schreiber Public School was the local representative when 500 public school women teachers gathered at the Skyline Hotel in Toronto, August 15-18 for the annual meeting of the Federation of Women Teachers Association of Ontario. Presiding officer was Miss Melba Woolley of Ottawa, provincial president of the Federation. Honorary memberships in the Federation were awarded to Miss Helen Sheppard of North Bay, a former provincial president of the Federation of Women Teachers! Association of Ontario and of the Ontario Teachers' Federation, Miss Olive Armstrong of Peterborough, Miss Margaret Bennie Hosie of Stouffville, Miss Ina - McKennitt of Owen Sound, Miss Lela Nelson of Walkerton and Mrs. Mary Wright of Collingwood. The $6,000. Federation of W.T.A. of Ontario. Fellowship was presented to Mrs. Elizabeth Jarvis, a Burlington primary teacher who is working toward her doctorate at the Ontario Institute of Studies in Education. The $2,000. Helen Keefer Scholarship was awardec to Mrs. Velda McMillan, principal of a Kenora Public School. Centennial scholarships worth $1,000. each were presented to Miss Carolyn Bertram of Etobicoke, Miss Jessie Howell of Brant- ford and Mrs. Madge Littlefield of Kenora. ROSSPORT NEWS Mr. & Mrs. T. Yandon and children spent the weekend at the Lakehead. Dr. & Mrs. Kyle and family, Mr. & Mrs. Hopper of Port Arthur are guests at the Rossport Inn. A. Campion of Toronto, Mr. & Mrs. Murray Jardine of Dryden, Ontario are guests of T.F. Seppala this week. (continued on Page 14)
