HILARY O'BRIEN FUNERAL HELD IN SCHREIBER The funeral of the late Hilary O'Brien, whose death occurred August 25 in his home was conducted on Monday, August 28 in Holy Angels* Roman Catholic Church by Rev. JM. Cano. John Cosgrove, a divinity student, and neighbor of the deceased read part of the Scripture passages. Pall-bearers were Larry Downey, brother-in-law of the deceased, Terry and Desmond O'Driscoll, Martyn Ryan, Kenneth Davis and Gerard Cosgrove. Interment was in Schreiber cemetery. A native of Schreiber, Mr. O'Brien is sirvived by his wife, the former Marion McCoshen, @ son Kevin, and a sister Mrs. C.R. Power of Norende, Que. Known es "Boston" by his friends, Mr. O'Brien was one of the best goal tenders in amateur hockey in early years and, when older, became equally well-known for his ability as a home carpenter. HOLMES-RUSSEL VOWS EXCHANGED On August 26 in Holy Angels Roman Catholic Church in Schreiber, Rev. J.M. Cano solemnized the marriage of Carole Edythe Holmes, of Toronto, daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Chas. Holmes of Schreiber, and Harold John Russell, of Toronto, son of Mr. & Mrs. Wm. Russell, of Toronto, in a double ring ceremony. Craig Edwards of Hanover, Ontario was the soloist, accomp- anied by Miss Joanne Edwards of Toronto. The bride, gowned in bonded French teffeta, with bell style skirt, accented with lace at the neckline, waist and hem, and long sleeves. A detachable train was caught at the waist by a bow. Her four tier veil, was held by a cluster of lily of the valley and satin petals and her bouquet was pink roses and lily of the valley. Mrs. Robert Dunville, of Red Rock, sister of the bride, was matron of honor and bridesmaids were Miss Muriel Holmes sister of the bride, and Miss lynn Russell, sister of the groom, of Toronto. : They wore empire A-styled gowns, with bell sleeves, of pink flowered sik chiffon over taffeta, white accessories and pink bow headdresses, and they carried semi-cascades of white carnations. Mr. Keith Sabine of Belleville, Ontario wes best man and ushers were Mr. Mervin Holmes, brother of the bride and Mr. Paul Laidlaw, cousin of the groom, of Toronto. A wedding breakfast was given in the Parish Hell with Con. Duggen, her godfather, -proposing the toast to the bride. The wedding cake was: made by Mrs. Duggan. In the afternoon a reception was held in the town hall when Mrs. Holmes received in a pink silk shentung sheath and matching coat with feathered het and accessories in white and corsage of white roses. The groomts mother, chose an aqua shentung sheath with jacket accented by beaded wedding ring coller, a tulle het end matching slippers and corsage of Talisman roses. For a honeymoon in Montreal and Quebec City the bride chose a mint green Irish tween coat and dress, with green multi-striped hat, beige shoes and purse , end corsage of Talisman roses. Mr. & Mrs. Russell will make their home in Annapolis Royal, N.S.
