July 27, 1967 SCHREIBER NEWS Mr. & Mrs. John Crawley of Edmonton visited Mr. and Mrs. David N esbitt enroute to Expo. Mrs. Douglas May, Ginny, Don and Rosemary spent their vacation visiting relatives in Bracebridge. Visiting with Mr. & Mrs. Forbes Macadam during the month have been the former's nieces and families Mr. & Mrs. Donald Keith with Heather, Marjorie and Merichelle of Regina; Mr. & Mrs. Neil McKen- zie with Donald, Lynne and Jane of Winnipeg; John Hagen and Don Ledgerwood of Virden; Mr. & Mrs. Higgs and daughter Mrs. Shirley Clark of Toronto, Mrs. Higgs the former Alice Jones and Mrs. Macadam grew up together here; Mrs & Mrs. Gordon Macadam (son) and daughter Darlene of Winnipeg are now with the Macadam's camping at the lake. Mr. & Mrs. Ed. Coby of Labrador City are the guests of Mr. & Mrs. Gino Caccamo. Mr.& Mrs. Jack Webb of Sarnia visited with their cousins Mrs. Lester McCuaig and Mrs. Bill Furlonger this week. Mrs. Hal Frommann' with Wolfgang and Monica leave on July 26 to fly to east Germany where they will visit Mrs. Frommann's mother for three weeks. Mr. & Mrs. Timothy Kirkup and son Jon have come from Kent, England to live in Schreiber where Mr. Kirkup is employed with the C.P.R. engineering staff. Mrs. C. Pearson and nephew Barry Gilmour spent their vacation with relatives in St. Thomas, Ontario. COUNCIL NOTES At the July meeting it was agreed to hire an additional man on regular town staff with Wayne Wilson accepted for the position. J.Clavelle's request for light standard at Walker's Lake was granted. Chief Constable Scott is to carry out prosecutions for owners permitting dogs to run at large. Numerous complaints have been received on this. A complaint against a local restaurant is to be investigated . An uncovered septic tank on Brunswick Street will be reported to District Health Unit. In reply toC. Speziale's complaint regarding cesspool pumping council stated a minimum fee for labor and use of a town truck must be levied. The rink committee .was informed that council is trying to get a contractor to repair the arena roof. Accounts passed for payment were: Water $2160.94 and general accounts $3648 .87. TERRACE BAY NEWS Page 15 In regard to condemned property on Scotia Street, no reply is available from town solicitor but the owner will be in Schreiber shortly to discuss the ¢ matter with council. Another condemned area requires title searching before sale to the new owner can be made who wishes to demolish the house on the property. The road superintendent was instructed to empty and repair trash cans on the street following a complaint. The cemetery fence painting has been delayed awaiting arrival of paint. - J. Speziale's complaint regarding a thawing charge will be investigated. A congratulatory letter was senf to Mrs. | .McCuaig and committee for organizing the Old Home Re- Union so well.
