RECREATION BRIEFS - by David Courtemanche Softball -- Don't forget the softball game Saturday at 2 p.m. at the ball field. Red Rock will play Terrace Bay playground team in the 12 year and under age group. Support our players with your attendance. We are trying to put all our players in uniforms. Some used in past years have been turned into the Recreation Office, others have not. If you have a uniform in your closet or basement, please return it to the Recreation Office. Swimming Pool - Swimming for adults only takes place Monday to Friday inclusive from 1 to 2 p.m. 'Instructions are available for those wishing to take them. A short note to parents - if your children take lessions they must attend at least 75% of the classes b efore they are allowed to take a test for awards. Some children are under the impression that they can attend instruction classes when they feel like it. Those having this attitude will be disappointed at testing time. Lacrosse - Mondays, there is Lacrosse in the Arena from 6 to 8 p.m. for boys 7 years to 13 years. Tuesday it is held for girls of all ages from 6 to 7 p.m. and for the teenager from 7 to? p.m. Plans are being made to have a lacrosse tournament in Terrace Bay with a proposed date being Saturday, August 19, and possibly August 20. Teams we hope will be participating will be Port Arthur, Fort William, Manitouwadge and Terrace Bay. Compet- - ition for girls is also being arranged. If this is not possible they will put on an exhibition game during the tournament for boys. We might add that some _ of the girls are just as good as the boys. Last evening, goal pads were put on for the first time and Glen Kujbiba looked very fine. Regular attendance will be required for persons wishing to play in the tournament. Players wishing to purchase lacrosse sticks may do so by paying a small fee to the Recreation Association. Tennis Clinic - Arrangements are being made to conduct a Clinic here on Friday and Saturday, August |8 and 19 with an outside instructor from Hamilton conducting the clinic. Interested persons are asked to contact the Recreation Office for reg- istrations. There is a lot of free time at the tennis courts for those wishing to play. The courts are kept locked but a key may be obtained at the Rec- reation Office or at the Snack Bar. Softball Umpire Clinic - Anyone wishing to attend a softball umpires clinic in Red Rock oh Saturdty, July 22, 10 a.m. until 4.p.m. please contact the Terrace Bay Recreation Office . Teen Town - The last dance, held during the Summer Festival in the arena was highly successful and anoth er dance is planned at the arena Saturday, July 29. The big attraction will be the group called "The Gettysburg Address". They are rated No. 1 in Winnipeg, No. 23 in the Lakehead and No. 37 across Canada. Plan to support your Teen Town by attending this dance. Roller Skating - This Sunday, as usual from 7 to 10 p.m. in the arena. There will be individual and couple skating, as well as prizes for spot skating . Plan to attend for an evening of fun and exercise . Bring the family members with you.
