April 13, 1967 ICE FUND CARNIVAL HELD The carnival in Schreiber began with a torchlight parade led by the Terrace Bay Sea Cadet and Wren- ette Band. Later, in the rink, they presented an excellent precision drilling display. Too much credit can not be given to the group who, in bitter weather, on a slippery surface, and in the girls' group - with icy feet, presented a faultless performance. The cadets are the Terrace Superiors and the Wrenettes the Princess Royals. : Officers in charge were Lieut. J.Cumming, Lieut. Betty Arnold, Sub. Lieut. H.Hamilton, Rosemary Thorpe and Alice Chepelsky, Barbara Arnold and Donna Fedorak . The girls' figure skating club put on a display and also the high school cheerleader group. A boys' team pram relay was a novel event (from Terrace Bay to Schreiber) when a time of 59 minutes was set by Schreiber boys - Boyd Drake, D'Arcy Furlonger, Ryan LeBlanc, David Bromley, Doug Stefurak, Paddy Duggan, Jerry Searles. They boys' names will be put on the trophy and it is planned to make the race an.annual event. Costume pri zes were awarded to Sylvia Worts, Cathie Cocks, Ronda Campbell, Tana and Cora Morrow, Pamela Winters, Doug Reynolds(teenage) and Mrs. Bob Winters, (the oldest skater), who at 76 years, wore a Centennial dress and ankle strap skates topped by a bugle-beaded cape 125 years old. Friday night there was a house league game and on Saturday afternoon a minor league game. A highlight of the program was the broomball game between the United Church women and the Catholic Women's League when Willemina Prinselaar, a dark horse for the UCW, from Holland, who had never before seen the game, got two of the three goals for her team, Barbara Arnold the third one. CWL was scoreless. In goal for the UCW was Norma Fummer- ton and for the CWL Norah McGuire who, before she left the rink, arranged for regular practices for next season. L.toR.
