TERRACE BAY SCHREIBER NEWS J.C. Gagnon is in Port Arthur General Hospital, Mrs. Arlie Rumley of Wiarton is visiting her daught- er Mrs. Jack Bryson and family. Mrs. Ethel Duncan of Kelowna, B.C. is the guest of Mrs. Jack Corbett. Miss Ora Mae Harness has accepted a position on the staff of the Sick Children's Hospital in Toronto. Since graduating from McKellar Hospital Ora Mae has been with the emergency unit there. Mrs. Mary Lang, Senior Regent, Women of the Moose #1426, attended an executive session held in the Port Arthur Lodge last weekend. Vic Hannam has returned from Toronto where he attended a mining convention. Letters are arriving regularly adding zest to plans for Schreiber re-union July 2,3 and 4 the latest from the daughter of the first Reeve of Schreiber, Mr. Wadlund. now Mrs. Ruth McKenzie of New Westminst- er, B.C. who plans to be here for the occasion, and the Wright sisters of London, Ontario who left as children but plan to be here to see old school mates. The Women's Auxiliary of the Anglican Church at their regular March meeting planned a bake sale on March 23, in the Church Hall. Orders will be taken in advance for Hot Cross buns to be sold then. The April meeting will be held in Mrs. Ted Wilson's home The Thunder Bay Riding Association of the Progress- ive Conservative Association will hold a convention on April 8 to appoint a candidate in the next Prov- incial election. The convention will be held in the Nipigon Public School with registration beginning at 7 p.m. A strong contender for the nomination will be T.F. Seppala of Rossport who is Past President (3 years) of the Port Arthur Riding Association and has be been for many years associated with the popular Ross- port Fish Derby. Painstakingly printed and unsigned , the short essays done by Grade six students on their parents were attention-getters at the Public School Open House. The Parents admitted the pen portraits were humorous and uncannily accurate, revealing unsuspected observation on the part of their offsprings. During the evening tea was served in the Physical Education room by Mesdames Edward Lang, Gladys Madigan, Bill Fadden and Bill Tripp. COUNCIL NOTES Tenders will be asked on a new snow plough for Schreiber it was decided at the March meeting of Municipal Council . NEWS Final payment with $1,000. held pending completion of work, has been made on artificial ice plant. Thunder Bay Co-Op Dairy wrote explaining that regular milk delivery is disrupted due to a fire in their premises. They commended the fire brigade for their work and thanked all in the community who assisted. As representative of Town Employees, Keith Scott wrote stating they had, by vote, accepted the Metropolitan Group Life Plan. Notice was received from Thunder Bay District Municipal League that their 50th Annual Convention March 23, 1967 ' will be held March 29, 30 and 31 in Port Arthur. Delegates will attend. Council endorsed a resolution of the City of Fort William asking for emergency helicopter ambulance service. Membership was taken in the Ontario Municipal Associ ation, councillors feeling that even though meetings could not be attended, association might support resolutions presented by Schreiber . Marathon Realty increased a land lease rental from $25. to $40. effective April |. Water accounts of $167.63 and general accounts of $2,497.31 were passed for payment. Acting Clerk, Mrs. Mary Jarva stated no replies have been received to advertisement in Lakehead and Toronto papers for the position of town clerk in Schreiber . It was decided to loop the east of Columbia Street with Brunswick in an effort to overcome water problems in the area. A discussion of the Employees' Benefit Plan was held over for ful! council discussion. CATHOLIC GIRLS CLUB MEET Vice President, Giselle Chicoine, was in charge of the last regular meeting of the Catholic Girls Club. Twenty seven were present and Debbie Cook Jewell Paradis, and Cathy McGuire were welcomed as new members.
