SCHREIBER NEWS The Schreiber Gospel Mission is holding a special missionary week February 27 to March 5. On Monday February 27 a missionary on furlough from Ethiopia, Mr. Melvin Donald showed a film. On Wednesday, a special speaker will be present at the regular prayer service, and will give a message centred on missions. Sunday, March 5, Miss Ann Ellis on furlough from India will be speaking, showing slides and displaying native costumes and crafts. All evening meetings begin at 7 p.m. Everyone is welcome. Reeve Harness, J.D.Phillips and G. Caccamo of the local commission are in Toronto attending a convention of the H.E.P.C. Mrs. Caccamo accomp- anied her husband. Mr. & Mrs. Gary Drake will leave shortly for Winn- ipeg where on March 13, they will attend the Diamond wedding celebration of Mrs. Drake's parents, Mr. & Mrs. David B oyd. Mr. & Mrs. Neil Whent and Mrs. Lily Hill spent the weekend with Mr. & Mrs. Tommy Whent. The Neil Whents' are going to a new home in Winnipeg. Mr. & Mrs. Howard Costall and family of Port Arth- ur spent the weekend with Mr. & Mrs. H. Costall. Among the many people from here in hospitals are W.T. Wallace, Barry Miller, Jim Ford, Jack Rattray, Mrs. Hubert Weaver, Mrs. Doug May, Mrs. Jack Bryson, in Port Arthur General. Bill Thrower is in St. Joseph's, Port Arthur. Bill Alcorn, Henry Miller and Mrs. Nellie Gerow in McKellar. Mrs. Lorraine Huard and David Nesbitt returned home this week. David will go shortly to Winnipeg for further treat- ment. Mrs. Harry Eaton, who will shortly join her husband in Smith Falls where he has been transferred by the CPR, was honoured by a group of twenty friends who met in Mrs. J.D.Bromley's home. On behalf of the others, Mrs. Bill Hawke presented a toaster and cake server as farewell gifts. Mrs. D.Bennitz and Mrs. Hawke assisted the hostess in serving lunch. MARCHING MOTHERS COLLECT $378.43 Mrs. J.R.Rummery reported a sum of $378.42 was collected in the March of Dimes. Captains for this year were: Mrs. R.G.Macadam, Mrs. M.Ryan, Mrs. D'Arcy McGuire, and Mrs. F. MacDonald. Marching Mothers included Mesdames Robin Moore, San Chic- cine, Earl Welbourne, B ob Ellicott, Alex Power, ' Del, Condie, Elton Fumerton, Bill Weaver, Ray ee Len Hiller, Ray Sisson, Roly Martin, G.A.Scott, Bill Cocks, Norman Glad, J.McGrath, Rene Bedard, | Aurel Major, Ed Lang, Lou Karns, John Maclsaac,, Peter Doig, R. Mrs. Bill Cook's committee served lunch. Mrs. A.E. Rigelsford presided for the regular meet- ing of the Women;s Auxiliary of St.John's Anglican Church when a bake sale was planned for March 4 in J.M. Cebrario's store. Mrs. Cyril Sparkes gave her annual secretarila report. Rev.!Inshaw told the members that the Archb ishop would be in Schreiber inj June for Confirmation services. Mrs. Bruce Lidkea was lunch hostess. ST JOHN AMBULANCE MEMBERS TO EXPO Word has been received from Provincial Headquart- 'ers in Toronto that four members of Schreiber Combin- ed Division will be among the St.John Ambulance volunteers to staff nine first aid posts, including one Federal building, at Expo 67. The first aid posts will be operated from 9.a.m. tola.m. each day and the uniformed Brigade members will be on duty eight hours a day, seven consecutive days each. Volunteers from Schreiber chosen for one week's duty include Donald Almos in May, Mrs. Dorothy Rummery, brigade superintendent August, Arnold Stortini September and Mrs . Helen Dooley October. Fun with French would be an apt description of adults attempting to learn the language at evening classes in the High School. Laughter at the stumbl- ing tongues is shared by teacher and pupils.
