Accompanying Mr .Roberts were L.Ringham, regional director of Port Arthur, N.B.McMahan of Toronto and C.Acheson, Asst. Deputy Minister, of Toronto. The Progressive Conservative executive consisted of Walter Milne of Marathon, George O'Neil of Nipigon, Ross Williams of Nipigon, Robert Clark of Beardmore, Jack Phillips and Lester McCuaig of Schreiber, Jack Spillett and T .F .Seppala of Ross- port and the Chief Forester, George McKinnon of Geraldton. T.F.Seppala presided and secretary Geo .O'Neil read the minutes and communications. One of the topics of discussion was the possibility of moving the Chief Ranger Station base to Terrace Bay, which Rossport opposes. It was pointed out that heavy fog lays over the Lake to the pump house the Lake is full of submerged logs and stumps of trees that were cut before flooding the area. Eco- nomically, Rossport needs the base at its present location or at Rossport. The majority of Rossport residents have many theories and explanations as to why the base should be kept here. Mr.Roberts viewed the set-up and thought Terracé Bay a mere central location. A $200,000 layout at Rossport, with its protected harbour, would certainly be a large uplift for the community, in the thinking of the villagers. TOWN DUMP TO BE MOVED eae cetniabhiabaiockeneebier stu eee: The refuse area for the Township, commonly referred to as the Town Dump, will cease to exist in its present location as of October 3rd. The reason for moving the dump is to prevent possible contamination from this area into Lake Superior. The new Town refuse area will be located east of the Mill. It will be approached from off the mill road, opposite the road that leads to the Moose Hall (South Camp). There will be no burning at the new dump. As the refuse is collected and emptied, it will be buried in trenches in the ground. Signs will be posted showing new location. MAP (East) Highway 17 (West) South Camp Road To Mill
